Item 3C Southlake Arts Council Board Report April 2010 Presented by Arts Council Chair, Jeffrey Walter Status Report Council Membership The Arts Council is currently short one member, with six regular members and Î two of three alternate members as appointed by city council. The group has come together very effectively to provide a richly diversified experience and energy to the Arts Council. Public Arts Master Plan The Arts Council recommended that City Staff create an RFQ to hire an Î organization to provide a comprehensive Arts Masterplan that will be integrated into the upcoming 2030 Masterplan. The Arts Masterplan will be able to help the Arts Council identify priorities for the near and long term with regard to the development of public art and other culturally based programs and information. Call to Artists A call to Artists was placed for art for four roundabouts. The Arts Council will accept Î comprehensive concepts for all four locations or will also accept individual concepts for each location. The Artists Selection Workgroup is developing the process now to allow citizen and council input throughout the process. More details on that process later. The original concepts will be narrowed down originally by the Artists Selection Workgroup by reviewing the artists past works and resumes. Arts Council will also receive in service instruction on how to effectively jury art. Southlake Arts Roundtable discussion The Southlake Arts Council is looking at having a Roundtable Î Arts discussion in the fall where we will try and bring in all the Arts Groups that operate in an around Southlake and the School Districts as well in order to allow the Arts Council to gather a comprehensive snapshot of the state of art in Southlake and help develop strategies to develop the Arts and Cultural opportunities in this fine city. Other late breaking Arts Council News Arts Council Chair, Jeffrey Walter who will be presenting this Î report will indicate any other items or information at this time that the Arts Council would like to provide the City Council if anything is needed to be added to the report as written.
