Item 4KM E M O R A N D U M January 19, 2010 TO: Shana Yelverton, City Manager FROM: Chris Tribble, Director of Community Services Approve SPDC Matching Funds request from Roxy Tennis, SUBJECT: L.L.P. in the amount of $40,500 for construction of a sixth tennis court at the Southlake Tennis Center Action Requested: City Council approval of SPDC Matching Funds request from Roxy Tennis, L.L.P. in the amount of $40,500 ($81,000 total) to pay for the construction of a sixth tennis court at the Southlake Tennis Center. Background Information: The original Bicentennial Park concept plan included five (5) tennis courts. Roxy Tennis, L.L.P., is the City’s contractor who manages and operates the Southlake Tennis Center. Early on in the development of Phase I, Roxy Tennis made a request for an additional court to handle the increasing demands for court space and programs, and to improve the opportunities to bring tournaments to Southlake. The additional court was incorporated into the current Phase I design with the commitment from Roxy Tennis to fund the sixth court utilizing matching funds (50% from City and 50% from Roxy Tennis). Financial Considerations: SPDC Matching Funds in the amount of $250,000 were allocated within the FY 2010 SPDC CIP Capital Budget. To date, $16,000 in matching funds has been approved and allocated: KSB planters $8,000 ( $16,000 total) If the current request for $40,500 ($81,000 total) from Roxy Tennis to construct an additional tennis court is granted, an unencumbered balance of approximately $153,000 would remain in the 2010 Matching Funds budget.
