TO: Shana Yelverton, City Manager
FROM: Chris Tribble, Director of Community Services
Approve SPDC Matching Funds request from Roxy Tennis,
SUBJECT:
L.L.P. in the amount of $40,500 for construction of a sixth
tennis court at the Southlake Tennis Center
Action Requested: City Council approval of SPDC Matching Funds request from
Roxy Tennis, L.L.P. in the amount of $40,500 ($81,000 total)
to pay for the construction of a sixth tennis court at the
Southlake Tennis Center.
Background
Information: The original Bicentennial Park concept plan included five (5)
tennis courts. Roxy Tennis, L.L.P., is the City’s contractor
who manages and operates the Southlake Tennis Center.
Early on in the development of Phase I, Roxy Tennis made a
request for an additional court to handle the increasing
demands for court space and programs, and to improve the
opportunities to bring tournaments to Southlake. The
additional court was incorporated into the current Phase I
design with the commitment from Roxy Tennis to fund the
sixth court utilizing matching funds (50% from City and 50%
from Roxy Tennis).
Financial
Considerations: SPDC Matching Funds in the amount of $250,000 were
allocated within the FY 2010 SPDC CIP Capital Budget. To
date, $16,000 in matching funds has been approved and
allocated:
KSB planters $8,000 ( $16,000 total)
If the current request for $40,500 ($81,000 total) from Roxy
Tennis to construct an additional tennis court is granted, an
unencumbered balance of approximately $153,000 would
remain in the 2010 Matching Funds budget.
Strategic Link: This item is linked to the City’s Strategy Map related to the
focus area of Quality Development and Performance
Management and Service Delivery and meets the corporate
objectives to Provide Attractive and Unique Spaces for
Enjoyment of Personal Interests, Provide High Quality
