Item 9A Department of Planning & Development Services S T A F F R E P O R T November 12, 2008 SP 08-161 CASE NO: Sign Variance for Guaranty Bank PROJECT: REQUEST: Chandler Signs is requesting a variance to the Shady Oaks Office Park Conditional Sign Permit to allow a monument sign for Guaranty Bank. Guaranty Bank is located at 600 West Southlake Boulevard, Suite 110 at the intersection of W. Southlake Boulevard and Shady Oaks Drive. In 2006, City Council granted a Conditional Sign Permit for Shady Oaks Office Park to allow one monument sign for the development along Southlake Boulevard and two monument signs within the development. Guaranty Bank proposes to place a fourth monument sign at the intersection of W. Southlake Boulevard and Shady Oaks Drive. Because the conditional sign permit allows only three monument signs for the development, a variance is required to allow an additional monument sign for Guaranty Bank. This item appeared before the City Council on July 15, 2008 and was tabled to allow the applicant time to consider a different design. A revised plan is included with this staff report. Guaranty Bank is located at 600 West Southlake Boulevard, Suite 110. STAFF COMMENTS: The sign criteria, site plan and application are attached to this report.
