FY09 Workplan Fall: Leaf Recycling Program Winter: Christmas Tree Mulching Winter Watering Tips Spring: Planting Bed Preparation Planting ideas (drought tolerant plants, etc.) Summer: Water Conservation Policy Committee Purpose The purpose of Green Team Policy Committee is to: develop policies and ordinance regulations that will result in energy efficiency and conservation ; protection of water and other natural resources; and provide businesses and citizens an opportunity to offset energy or other resource related costs. Where is North Texas Headed? N. Texas Region Where is N. Texas Headed it stays on the current practices? In 2050 the Region will have: 12 million people Energy Demand 21% higher than current available capacity Water demand that more than doubles from the year 2000 Billions of $ lost to decreased productivity due to traffic congestion, poor health and inadequate infrastructure Source: Vision North Texas How Could the Future be Different? Numerous new start-up manufacturers entered the market and smallwind media inquiries at AWEA were at an all-time high, reflecting this growth. However, growth paled in comparison to its market counterpart, the solar photovoltaic(PV) industry, which experienced a 53% growth (200 MW) in the same period.
