Background Information
On February 17, 2009, the President signed the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) of 2009 into law;
The ARRA provides for Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grants (EECBG) to the states to fund energy efficient projects and stimulate the economy;
Background InformationState Energy Conservation Office (SECO)
The State Energy Conservation Office administers the energy efficiency grants;
The City of Southlake is eligible to apply for up to $75,000 to fund an energy efficient project or retrofit;
City Staff has submitted an NOI to SECO;
SECO requires a Council approved Resolution to apply for a grant by 11/22/09
Need for Grant Funding
Suitable energy efficiency City project:
Upgrade the lighting in the Southlake Town Square East Parking Garage similar to the upgrades authorized at the Nov. 3, 2009 Council session for the West Parking Garage;
Currently, no funding is allocated to improving the energy efficiency of the East Parking Garage; Estimated cost is $86,200.
