PROJECT:Sign Variance for STARS Theater Company
REQUEST:
STARS Theater Company is requesting a variance to Sign Ordinance No. 704-C to
allow a wagon with an attached sign, marquee, and flags. The subject property is
located at 1970 East Dove Road. STARS Theater Company is a non-profit
organization that provides education in theatre arts for children. The wagon and
associated signage are currently in place and are used to advertise the dates and
times of performances. Under Sign Ordinance No. 704-C, the applicant is allowed one
6 foot 6 inch tall monument sign. The applicant is requesting the wagon and
associated signage in place of a traditional monument sign.
ACTION NEEDED: Consider variance request.

Sign Variance Application
1. That a literal enforcement of the sign regulation will create an unnecessary hardship or
practical difficulty on the applicant.
2. That the situation causing the unnecessary hardship or practical difficulty is unique to
the affected property and is not self imposed.
3. That the variance will not injure and will be wholly compatible with the use and permitted
development of adjacent properties.
4. That the variance will be in harmony with the spirit and purpose of the sign ordinance.
