Subject: Resolution No. 26-034, appointing members, and chairs to various
positions on the Advisory Commission on Persons with Disabilities,
Library Board, Metroport Teen Court, Senior Advisory Commission, and
the Southlake Arts Council.
Action
Requested: Approve Resolution No. 26-034, appointing members, and chairs to
various positions on the Advisory Commission on Persons with
Disabilities, Library Board, Metroport Teen Court, Senior Advisory
Commission, and the Southlake Arts Council.
Background
Information: Each year, the City Council appoints members of the public to various
boards, commissions and committees. Each member is appointed for a
two-year term unless indicated otherwise. Appointed members shall be
citizens of Southlake and registered voters. Members of the public
indicate their interest in volunteering by submitting a completed
application to the City Secretary's Office. Applications are available on the
City's website and from the City Secretary's Office.
In preparation for the October appointments, Mayor McCaskill sent an
email to all board and commission members asking for referrals. The City
Secretary's Office also sent an email to board members with expiring
terms to determine interest in reappointment to their respective board or
interest in a different board. The City Secretary's Office also publicized
the upcoming October appointments with MySouth lake News.com, on
social media, and in the Volunteer Southlake newsletter.
The following boards, commissions, and committees require City Council
appointment of a Chair:
• Advisory Commission on Persons with Disabilities
• Library Board
• Senior Advisory Commission
• Southlake Arts Council
On September 9, 2026, Council received a binder that included
applications filed with the City Secretary's Office for these boards as well
as an outline of each board detailing the current membership, terms
expiring in October 2026, and existing members who expressed an
interest in being reappointed. In addition, applicant interviews were
conducted with Council on October 5, 2026.
The boards identified for appointments in October, together with the
individual place terms set to expire, are highlighted and listed below.

RESOLUTION NO. 26-034
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SOUTHLAKE, TEXAS, APPOINTING MEMBERS TO POSITIONS ON
THE ADVISORY COMMISSION FOR PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES,
LIBRARY BOARD, METROPORT TEEN COURT, SENIOR ADVISORY
COMMISSION, AND THE SOUTHLAKE ARTS COUNCIL PROVIDING
AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
Whereas, the City Council appoints members of the public to boards, commissions and
committees to serve a two-year term, unless indicated otherwise; and
Whereas, each appointee shall be a citizen of Southlake and be a registered voter;
and
Whereas, the membership and qualifications for each board, commission and
committee are identified by City Charter, ordinance, or resolution; and
Whereas, the City Council will make bi-annual appointments for Council-appointed
boards; and
Whereas, the City Council desires to appoint members to positions on the following
boards:
• Advisory Commission on Persons with Disabilities
• Library Board
• Metroport Teen Court
• Senior Advisory Commission
• Southlake Arts Council
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SOUTHLAKE, TEXAS, THAT:
Section 1. All the findings in the preamble are found to be true and correct and the City
Council does hereby incorporate said findings into the body of this
resolution as if copied in its entirety.
Section 2. The following citizens are appointed to serve as board, commission or
committee members for the stated terms and until their successors have
been duly appointed and qualified by Council.
