Comments / Explanation Last year ’s event was extremely loud and disruptive throughout
the event. Loud music, and people speaking loudly while on a
PA system on stage echoing throughout the neighborhood. The
stage was set up as close to the city park and neighborhood as
possible (and as far away from the church as possible) causing
a huge disturbance. There were lots of vehicles in the
neighborhood, overwhelming the parking for people to take
their kids to the park and overwhelming normal traffic flow.
While they did have fencing up with canvas covering the fence,
wind blew it down several times revealing people dressed in
skimpy and sexual outfits to the kids at the city park and to the
neighborhood. Also, even when the fence was up, people on
stage were above the height of the fence and in clear view of
the city park and neighborhood.
We were forced to keep our children indoors, could not enjoy
the park, and could not even enjoy our own private back yard
because of noise and overwhelming loud speeches we did not
want our kids hearing projected over loudspeakers throughout
the park and neighborhood.
We strongly oppose this event taking place again and feel it is
deeply unfair to anyone in our neighborhood and it is unfair to
subject children trying to enjoy the outdoors, our back yards,
and the city park to the subject matter being presented and to
the stage literally feet from my back yard and immediately
bordering the city park. If it was confined to the church itself
that would be fine. If people and especially children outside
were not subjected to the overwhelming and unavoidable sights
and sounds throughout the event, that would be much better
too. If the stage was opposite the park and homes that would
help too. I should be able to sit in my own back yard without
being forced to listen to the speeches and music. It’s disruptive
and absolutely not fair to us.
