It is the interpretation of that spirit that requires its board members to know and love this community. I feel I owe a debt of gratitude to the community that has served me and my family so well. Southlake is one of the most beautiful and convenient communities in the country. It offers a quality of life that's matched by few if any. Towns and municipalities all over the country attempt to duplicate but few can boast that they have acbjeved the high standards that we all enjoy. I know this because I meet with developers and community leaders from all over... aud on many occasion... they cite the desire to be "the Southlake" of 6,eir region. More and more people are discovering what Southlake has to offer. They are discovering what I discovered four years ago when 1 moved my family from Cleveland, Ohio to Southlake and they are discovering the reasons that led me to move my business to Southlake last month. Southlake is not done growing. Indeed there are more and more developers seeking to take advantage or even exploitthe success of Southlake and its residents. Continued growth is okay. _ -so long as it adheres to the longterm objectives that were so ' thoughtfully laid our by our past and ciurent community leaders. In other words, I like were we've been and were we axe today ...I want to help make sure that we continue to grow in the right direction, at the right pace and in the spirit of our city's Zoning .Ordinance. 05/29/2009 16:29 8177965620 HUNTER CHASE PAGE 03 Addendum B I have spent all fifteen years of my professional career it nearly every aspect of commercial real estate finance and development. First as a commercial real estate lender at keyBank; followed by a real estate capital investment banker (at KeyBank and Hunter Chase & Companies); and finally as a private owner and developer of real estate. T have lent and/or helped arrange well over $1 billion in capital in properties valued in excess of $4 billion and have experience dealing with small $2 million lot developments up to large $200 million waster--planned lifestyle centers (similar to Sauthlake Town Square). I have extensive experience in negotiating all types of real estate contracts (RFAs, P&S Agreements, CC&Rs, etc.) and have observed countless proposed developments navigate various zoning and entitlement processes. Until recently, my real estate career has been focused at the national level, requiring my travel across the country to cities and communities of all. si=. During my travels, I have seen developments and community strategies that have worked and I have seen those that can be considered less than successful. One of the primary reasons I relocated my family to Southlake is because of its superior. - yet affordable quality of life. The attractiveness of Southlake is attributed to the past and current community leaders that )have fogged a well thought out and cohesive plan far growth. As a potential future member of the Zoning Board of Adjustment, T, plan to draw upon my -vast real estate experience to continue that tradition of excellence in 5outhlake. Response: Zoning Board of Adjustment (Alternate). My term as an alternate expires in May 1010. The purpose of my current application is to respectfully request consideration for a position as a Member, as opposed to Alternate. Question: Reason(s) for desiring to serve on this board, commission, or committee and your opinion as to the purpose, goals and duties of the same. Response: Another set of eyes and ears coupled with and individual analysis of a site in light of the Zoning Ordinance permits an important check and balance. Hopefully, folks, even when their request is denied, will recognize that they have been treated fairly. 2009 update: The above is what I wrote in 2008 with my initial application. Since that time, I have had the opportunity to actually serve on the ZBA, and have found it to be interesting and fulfilling. Question: Qualifications and experience that would assist you in serving in this position. Response: Attorney with extensive construction and construction defect practice experience which means, among other things, that I am familiar with plans, blueprints, and working with engineers and other construction professionals. Vice President Triple C Ranch HOA. Board of Trustees First United Methodist Church Grapevine. Missions Committee South MacArthur Church of Christ, Irving, TX (Chairman for two (2) years. Visiting Committee, Honors Program Abilene Christian University (4 years - Chairman last year before rotating off. The foregoing committees are demonstrative that I am accustomed with working constructively with other folks in a committee setting. 2009 update: The above is what I wrote in 2008 with my initial application. Since that time, I have had the opportunity to actually serve on the ZBA, and have found it to be interesting and fulfilling. Additionally, I have continued to become more involved in our City both formally through helping with our elections and informally on the Carillon project where I really "cut my teeth" in our fair burgh. Question: Do you understand and agree that your regular attendance and active support are required as an appointee and that noncompliance could result in removal from the board? Response: Yes. 2009 update: I believe that the record will reflect that I have made all but two (2) of the ZBA meetings since my appointment.
