Subject: Item 4H Approve the purchase of equipment and services from
Superior Fiber and Data Services for structured cabling and network
infrastructure for the Municipal Service Center and Public Safety
Training Tower in an amount not to exceed $164,000.
Action
Requested: Approve the purchase of structured cabling equipment and
related installation services from Superior Fiber and Data
Services, Inc. for the Municipal Service Center (MSC) and
Public Safety Training Tower(PSTT) project, in an amount not
to exceed $164,000.
Background
Information: The purpose of this item is to seek City Council approval for
the purchase of structured cabling equipment and related
installation services for the Municipal Service Center and
Public Safety Training Tower.
The proposed project includes:
• Station cabling and patch panels to support computers,
printers, and wireless access points across all facilities.
• Installation of IT room infrastructure, including racks,
cabinets, and overhead ladder rack systems.
• USB/HDMI connectivity in offices within the main building
to support display integration.
• Fiber optic backbone cabling and connectors to provide
connectivity between buildings.
The structured cabling system will provide the foundational
infrastructure necessary to support the City's network,
communications systems, and future technology needs for the
facilities.
The proposal from Superior Fiber& Data Services includes all
materials, labor, testing, and documentation required for
installation across the Administration Building, Service Bay
Building, and Training Tower.
The procurement of these goods and services complies with
State and City purchasing requirements.

Superior Fiber and Data Services is an approved vendor
through the Interlocal Purchasing Systems (TIPS)
Cooperative Contract, which satisfies competitive bidding
requirements under Texas Local Government Code.
Use of the TIPS cooperative purchasing contract:
• Satisfies competitive bidding requirements under
Texas Local Government Code
• Provides competitively solicited pricing and terms.
• Allows the City to streamline procurement while
ensuring best value.
Financial
Considerations: Funding for this project is available in the Capital Improvement
Program for the Municipal Service Center and the Public
Safety Training Tower project. The total requested
authorization amount of $164,000 includes equipment,
installation services, and contingency for potential changes,
coordination needs, or minor scope adjustments.

Superior shall provide and install a total of(194)Category 6 Blue UTP Plenum Cables for the following devices:

• TV DATA-(28)Category 6 Blue Cables,terminated with Blue Jacks at the Workstation&Blue Jacks at the Patch Panel

All category cables shall originate from the nearest IDF or MDF and terminate on new 48-Port Modular,Flat,Empty Patch Panels

Superior shall provide and install backbone fiber segments as per the following breakdown:
• (1)12-Strand Armored,Indoor/Outdoor,Plenum Singlemode fiber from MDF 114Ato IDF within classroom 101C closet
All Fiber strands shall be terminated within a rack mount fiber enclosure and connected to 12-Port,6-Duplex,Fiber Adapter Panels
IDF within classroom 101C closet shall receive(1)1U Rack Mount Fiber Enclosure
All fiber segments shall be terminated using splice on LC Fiber Connectors
PATCH CORDS
Superior shall provide and transmit to the owner,(2)Patch cords for each category 6 cable installed.

(1)Closet Patch Cord-7'in Length
Superior is not responsible for providing nor installing Fiber Patch cords
Superior is not responsible for providing labor to patch in any workstation or closet end patch cords.

As-built's for workstation shall be provided at the completion of the project in AutoCAD format with customer provided floor plans in AutoCAD.
Superior requires the AutoCAD files to be in.DWG format to complete shop drawings and provide final As-Built Drawings.
