others who wished to commemorate the special occasion.
A, Royal and Annie Smith Park is a 13 acre park with playground area,pavilion and trails. Royal and
Annie Smith owned the property for 42 years before it was sold to the City of Southlake. A one
room cabin on the land was first used by the Smiths as a weekend home and in later years,a larger
home became the couple's permanent residence. The new park was designed by Halff and Associ-

ISSUE: Liberty Park at Sheltonwood used to be a"dude ranch"with many visitors throughout the years. The
Community 2 City purchased the land in 1999 and the park is now open complete with sidewalk inlays with quotes
from Mr.Shelton. The design firm of Halff and Associates is responsible for the park's look while

Update The parks would not be possible without the teamwork of the Southlake Parks Development Corpo-
ration and the Souddake Parks Board. The parks are part of the objectives outlined in the Southlake
Park Projects 2 2025 Plan and the City's Parks Master Plan adopted in 2005. For more information about these parks
