1959-06-12 VIAUkEo Ur ThE R6uUi,iiR MLE'xiNU OF ' BE TuViN COUNCIL, TUrrN Or` 6OUThI AKE, TEXAS, JUNE 12, 1959 Pursuant to the call of the Mayor, and to notice given to all members of the Town Council, stating time, place, and purpose of the meeting, the regular meeting of the Town Council, Southlake, Texas, was held Saturday, June 12, 1959, at Carroll School at 2 p.m. The following members were present consti- tuting a quorum: MAYOR: John M. Stevenson COUNCILMEN: Gus Halbert C. M. Gordon L. A. Casey J. J. Carlile W. C. Cummings Also present were Judge Albert Graves, Marshal Jurl Richardson, and attorney George P. Glee son. The meeting was called to order by the Mayor. The Secretary ' read the minutes and the financial report. The minutes and report were motioned to be accepted by C. M. Gordon and seconded by L. A. Casey. The council approved unanimously. The Mayor read a letter from the Corps of Engineers regarding the parking of trailers. Marshal, Jurl Richardson, was sworn in by Mayor Stevenson. The Marshal then read his monthly report. Gus Halbert motioned that the Marshal's report be accepted, seconded by L. A. Casey and approved unanimously by the council. wr The Mayor rgad a letter of resignation from the Corporation Judge Albert Graves. Gus Halbert motioned to accept Judge Graves's resignation, seconded by C. M. Gordon. His resignation was accepted with regret and thanks for the fine job he performed as corporation judge. Mayor Stevenson explained to the Council that Mr. Reid Jamison had agreed to serve as corporation judge beginning in July. Mr. Gus Halbert moved that tentative approval be given Mr. Jamison's appointment ~s Corporation Judge, such approval to become final on June 27, 1959 unless one or more of the Councilmen call the Mayor prior to that date and request reconsideration of the appointment. The motion was seconded by L. A. Casey and approved unanimously by the council. Mayor Stevenson read a letter from the Mayor of Ft. Worth „ inviting the Councilmen and citizens of Southlake to open house at the new South Holly Water Plant, Sunday, June 21, 1959. The Mayor also read a letter from the Advisory Board of the Citizens Planning Council of Tarrant County. ,rr REGULAR MEETING 2 June l2, 1959 Mr. Gus Halbert agreed to c he ck into the matter of insurance for the city Marshal. W. C. Cummings motioned that 2 Marshal's uniforms be purchased, maximum expenditure around $25. Due Halbert seconded the motion and it was approved unanimously by the Council. The Council authorized the expenditure of 06 for warning signs to be used at funerals and for other purposes as White's Chapel.
