Meeting of the City

Council, May 11, 1963
~r The meeting was called to order by Mayor J. R. Tate.
Answering roll call were W. H. Crumbaker, Earl Williams,
Paul Schell, J. J. Carlile, Keller Austin and the secretary.
Also present were Mr. E. F Depew and W. C. McDearman.

Reading of the/previous meeting was waived and Mr.
Depew was asked to state his business with the council. He
desired information in relation to dividing his land into
lots or plats and was referred to the chairman of the zoning
and planning commission, Mr. Frank Denton.
Mr. McDearman was then asked to place his plea berere
the council. Mr. McDearman presented a cheek from Messrs.
9 Holder and French for the payment, due on their term as lessees
on Rockledge Park. The amount was in error, having had an
4e excess amount deducted fer janitorial service for the term under
consideration, and Mr. McDearman agreed to return the check for
correction. Because of the urgency of co uncilts action on matters
pertaining to the concession transfer agreement, Mr. J. J. Carlile
made the motion that a special meeting be held on May 16, 19639
at which time Mr. McDearman could present a corrected statement and
check. Mr. Earl Williams seconded the motion and it was ;greed
that the meeting would be held at Mr. Tatets home on the following
Thursday evening.

Mayor Tate asked the council to approve the reappointment of the
present zoning and planning commission, and board of adjustments.
The names are as follows: Zoning and planning: Frank Denton,
chairman, W. E. Mayfield, George Schultze, Howard M. Hunter, and
Harold Knight. Beard of Ajustments: John Quinn, chairman, Charles
Yemng, Sr., L. T. Cathcart, Judson Joyeei and Crawford C. Hall.
Keller Austin was reappointed city marshal and Irene Nelson, city
secretary. Mr. Ben McClure, city attorney and Frank Lanford,
corporation court judge. On motion to se adopt this rester
of committeemen and appointive members, by Paul Schell, J. J.
Carlile seconded, and motion carried.
Routine bills and election costs for the election to be held
on May 14 were approved on motion of Earl Williams, seconded by
W. H Crumbaker.

A general discussion included the need for additional maps
of the city. Mr. Earl Williams made the motion that these
be secured as soon as practical, seconded by Paul Schell.
Motion carried.
Mr. Williams also made a motion that the county be asked to
supply stop signs for the hazardous corners within the cityts
boundaries; particular mention was made of the corner-cress
roads of "nursery and dove-road" motion seconded by Paul
Schell, carried.
Keller Austin presented copies of the usual charges(frem
another city) for traffic violations. Mr. J. J. Carlile
suggested that Mr. Frank Lanford be asked to attend the
next meeting of the city council for the purpose of discussing
same in relation to South lake.
On motion of Earl Williams, seconded by Paul Schell, the
meeting was adjourned.
