A.Approve the minutes from the September 09, 2025, Senior Advisory Commission Meeting Chair Alford presented Item 2A, including approval of the September 09, 2025, meeting minutes. APPROVED A motion was made to approve the minutes of September 09, 2025. Fire Department Update Fire Chief Langford, Assistant Chief Wilson, and Assistant Chief Charles provided an update to the Senior Advisory Commission on the restructuring of the Fire Department, safety initiatives, and the services the Southlake Fire Department offers to the senior community. 5. Background Information: The Southlake City Code and the Senior Advisory Commission Bylaws address the process for selection of the Vice-Chair and Secretary for the Senior Advisory Commission. Annually, following the City Council appointments of new Senior Advisory Commission members, the Board shall select a Vice-Chair and Secretary to serve for a one-year term until the next annual election. On October 21, 2025, the City Council reappointed MaryLee Alford (Place 2), William Meddings (Place 1), John Slocum (Place 3), and Brent Mcllvain (Place 5) to the Senior Advisory Commission. The City Council left Alternate No. 1 and Alternate No. 2 vacant. Additionally, the City Council reappointed MaryLee Alford as the Chair. Any sitting member of the Board may be considered for the officer positions. The current board members are: ▪William Meddings – Place 1 ▪MaryLee Alford – Place 2, Chair ▪Julie Walter – Place 4 ▪Brent Mcllvain – Place 5 ▪Greta Schumacher – Place 6, Vice Chair ▪Bernadette MacDermott – Place 7 A summary of each officer’s duties is listed below for your consideration. Vice-Chair Item 4A Senior Advisory Commission Meeting Date – January 13, 2026 Page 2 of 2 City of Southlake Values: Integrity ♦ Innovation ♦ Accountability ♦ Commitment to Excellence ♦ Teamwork • In the absence of the Chair or in the event the Chair is not able to or refuses to act, the Vice-Chair shall perform the duties of the Chair; and • Preside at Board meetings in the Chair’s absence • Perform other duties as prescribed Secretary • Ensure Minutes are filed with the City Secretary (Handled by the Department Secretary) • In general, shall perform all duties assigned by the Chair or the Board • In the absence of the Chair and Vice Chair, or their inability or refusal to act, shall perform the duties of Chair • The secretary assists the Department Secretary by turning ON the audio recorder at the meeting and taking notes during meetings to assist with the creation of minutes for the following meeting. Financial Considerations: Officers that are members of the Commission shall not receive any Salary or consideration for their services.
