1962-08-18 r Meeting of the City Council, City of Southlake August 18 1962 The regular meeting of the Council was held at the City hall. Mayor John Stevenson opened the meeting and answering roll call were councilmen W. H. Crumbaker, Paul Schell, J. R. Tate, J. J. Carlile. Also present were the marshal and city secretary. Mayor Stevenson read a letter from the Corp of Engineers, which protested the Council's decision to release the Rockledge Park area. After discussion, the Council elected to stand by the original decision to surrender the area inasmuch as the revenue therefrom was not sufficient to maintain the preakses and carry out the improvements insisted upon by the Corp. Mr. Carlile reported that the construction work undertaken by Messrs. Holder and French had been satisfactorily completed, and the bill (which had been previously approved subject to Mr. Carlile's approval) was paid. Mr. Holder accepted the * $508.96 check as full payment for the invoice of $511.53. Mr. Austin asked that a letter of appreciation by sent to the Tarrant County Sheriff's department because of the cooperation on several occasions in recent days. Council instructed the Secretary to send such a note. RAutine bills and a $5.00 statene nt from Yancey and Yancey for the Marshal's bond were approved for payment. Mr. W. H. Crumbaker was asked to obtain the distances for erection of the speed zone signs to be placed at Carroll School. The authority for setting this 20 MPH zone is found in ordinance 118.
