Meeting of the City Council,
City of Southlake
August 18
1962
The regular meeting of the Council was held at the
City hall. Mayor John Stevenson opened the meeting and
answering roll call were councilmen W. H. Crumbaker, Paul
Schell, J. R. Tate, J. J. Carlile. Also present were the
marshal and city secretary.
Mayor Stevenson read a letter from the Corp of Engineers,
which protested the Council's decision to release the Rockledge
Park area. After discussion, the Council elected to stand by
the original decision to surrender the area inasmuch as the
revenue therefrom was not sufficient to maintain the preakses
and carry out the improvements insisted upon by the Corp.
Mr. Carlile reported that the construction work undertaken
by Messrs. Holder and French had been satisfactorily completed,
and the bill (which had been previously approved subject to
Mr. Carlile's approval) was paid. Mr. Holder accepted the
* $508.96 check as full payment for the invoice of $511.53.
Mr. Austin asked that a letter of appreciation by sent
to the Tarrant County Sheriff's department because of the
cooperation on several occasions in recent days. Council
instructed the Secretary to send such a note.
RAutine bills and a $5.00 statene nt from Yancey and
Yancey for the Marshal's bond were approved for payment.
Mr. W. H. Crumbaker was asked to obtain the distances
for erection of the speed zone signs to be placed at Carroll
School. The authority for setting this 20 MPH zone is
found in ordinance 118.
There was no further business and on motion of Paul
Schell, seconded by J. J. Carlile, the meeting was adjourned.
Respectfully submitted,
