1962-05-15 40 Minutes of the City Uouncil • City of Southlake a May 15, 1962 The regular meeting of the council was held on May 152 1962 40 at 8 PM. Mayor John Stevenson opened the meeting and as roll call wasmade the following were marked present: John R. Tate, J. J. Carlile Earl Williams, W. H. Crumbaker. Mayor Stevenson entertained a motion for nominations for mayor pro-tem. J. J. Carlile nominated Earl Williams; Earl Williams nominated J. J. Carlile for Je-election. John R. Tate made the motion that nominations cease. was voted on first with one vote; Earl Williams second, received three votes. Mayor Stevenson proclaimed Earl Williams Mayor Pro Tem for the following year. A Routine bills were approved for payment; Mr. Frank Lanford ; this re submitted a requisition for warranty supplies, quest was approved by motion of Earl Williams, seconded by John R. Tate. Keller Austin presented the need of having his radio (communication) repaired. Earl Williams made a motion that this bill be paid by council, seconded by J. R. Tate, with the provision that the repairs be held within a reasonable amount. Mr. Stevenson thanked the council for the spray of flowers sent at the time of his father's death. Present at this meeting ere Mr. and Mrs. Harry Simpson. Mayor Stevenson asked the visitors to state their problem. Mr. Oimpson spoke in behalf of the wish to cooperate with all city ordinances. They wished to be informed on how to proceed wit~r their plan to build a larger residence. After hearingthe state- ments of the Simpsons, the council suggested they obtain the usual building permit from Mr. Frank Denton and proceed in the customary plan on all residential construction. Mr. and Mrs. Simpson thanked the council and went on th ei r way. Mr. Crumbaker gave a report on the traffic zone signs for Carroll School. After general discussion, Mr. Earl Williams made a motion to buy the stop signs and stee* posts, seconded by John R. Tate, carried. The signs were ordered from Sargent and Sowell, A and the secretary was instructed to send this company a check for 4 its' invoice upon receipt of same. Councilmen Tate and Williams reported that the construction work at Rockledge Park lacked a good deal of meeting their approval. 40 The boat launching ramp and beach improvements were already washing out. Mr. J. J. Carlile was asked to join these councilmen in checking " this work to see that proper corrective measures were started at once in order to protect what had already been done. • Film on safety for school busses and children was arranged for by Mr. Austin for showint at Carroll on September 11 from one to two PM and eight to nine PM for PTA; Grapevine school may have this shown s 6 Page two - May 15, 1962 if desired.
