The regular meeting of the City Council was held on June 10, 1961 at 2 PM.
Mayor John Stevenson, Councilman J. J. Carlile, W. C. Cummings, Earl Williams,
C. M. Gordon answered roll call. Mr. Ben McClure was present, as was Mr. Keller
Austin, and a visitorjMr. Champion.
Minutes of the last meeting were read and approved.
A letter of appreciation for the donation made to Carron School Athletic
Fund, signed by Mr. Jack Johnson, was read. Mayor Stevenson emphasized the
importance of seeking donations from the utility companies operating on franchise
in the school district (City). Special mention was made of the help given by
Texas Power and Light Company toward this project.
The Council had previously discussed the matter of investing $2,000.00
of the City's funds in an interest-bearing account. A resolution to this
effect was presented and approved. The secretary was instructed to write a
check and send it, along with a copy of the resolution,, to the Tarrant Savings
and Loan Association and to file the original resolution in the permanent files
of the City. Mr. McClure approved of this transaction. Mr. C. M. Gordon made
the mati.an that it be done and W. C Cummings seconded. Council approved.
Mr. Champion was asked to present his problem to the Council. He stated
he had recently bought a fifty--acre tract of land, known to the community as the
Tom Hodge place. He asked permission to subdivide the acreage into five more
or less equal tracts, each tract to face a now existing thoroughfare. He was
asked to contact Mr. Frank Denton,, Zoning Committee, as a matter of routine.*
the council members being of the opinion that his request did not in any way
violate the City's ordinance on zoning and planning.
Ordinance #68 concerning water supply in the city was discussed briefly.
On motion of J. J. Carlile, the meeting was adjourned.
