Meeting of the City Qouncil,
Southlake, Texas
February 11, 1961
Mayor John Stevenson called the meeting to order. Answering
roll call were Councilmen J. J. Carlile, W. C. Cummings,
C. M. Gordon, Marshal Keller Austin, Mr. Ben McClure.
# The large sign installed by Holiday Motel was discussed and
it was decided the Marshal should instruct these people that
the sign erected was in violation of the city ordinance.
The proposed charge for radio service calls was discussed and
the matter was tabled for the time being.
Ordinance Number 16 declaring an election to be held on April
4, 1961 was discussed and approved by mg -ti= of C. M. Gordon,
seconded by W. C. Cummings. Place one on City Council now
r held by W. C. Cummings is to be filled; place two now held
by J. J. Carlile is to be filled; Mayor Stevenson's place is
to be filled. Mr. Austin was instructed to post the notices
of such election in three public places.

The matter of the City's budget was discussed. A financial
report was read, The city received in 1960 a total of $1374900
a from the franchise payments by utility companies. This was
considered the basis of city income. Expenditures for the year
10 totaled about $1200.00. These figures wereadopted by the
Council as a working budget for 1961.
There being no further business, on motion of C.Gordon,
the meeting was adjourned.

I, John M. Stevenson, Mayor of the Town of Southlake, Texas, by virtue
of the power vested in me by law, do hereby order that an election be held k'
in the Town of Southlake, Texas, on April 4, 1961, being the first Tuesday
thereof, for the purpose of electing the following; officers of said town:

A Mayor and two Councilmen for a term of two years, from
April 4, 1961, or until their successors are duly elected
and qualified. Candidates for Mayor and Councilmen for
Places No. One and No. Two receiving the highest number
of votes for such offices and places shall be elected for
a term of two years.
And, that said election shall be held at the Carroll School in said Town,
and the following named porsens are hereby appointed Managers thereof,

The Marshal is hereby directed and instructed to pest a properly
executed copy of this order and notice of election at the Carroll School,
the place where this election shall be held, and at two other public places
