Meeting of the City Council of Southlake, Texas
O The meeting was called to order by Mr. J. J. Carlile in the absence of
Mayor Stevenson. Answering roll call were John Cope, W. C. Cummings, C. M.
Gordon. Also present were Keller Austin, City Marshal and the secretary.
Minutes of the November meeting were read and approved. (John Cope,
seconded by W. C. C )
There was no old business which required action.
On motions of W. C. Cummings, the donations to Careoll Parent-Teacher
Association in the amount of $50.00 and to the Grapevine Fire Department
for $100.00 were again approved. The secretary was instructed to issue these
checks and note on the check-book for which year they were. The checks were
mailed in accordance with the previous minutes dealing with this donation.
This motion to contribute again to these organizations was seconded by
C. M. Gordon.
Mr. Austin presented a bill for printing ID cards to be used in his
duties as City Marshal. This expense of $4.75 was approved and a check issued
to cover,
Mr. Austin mentioned the courtesies extended by the dispatchers of the
City df Grapevine and on om tion of C. M. Gordon, seconded by J. J. Carlile,
the council voted to spend not more than $10.00 for Christmas gifts for
Mmmes. Izola Jordan, Laura Allen and Mr. Floy Ezzell. It was suggested
that candy for the ladies and cigarettes be the best selection within the
price range stipulated.
Mr. J. P. Hammons and friends were present to seek consideration
of their plea for a wrecking yard which they wished to move on land recently
purchased from T. C. Carney, Sr. Mr. Hammans stated that Mr. Carney had
alleged, before witnesses, that his land was not in the confines of the
City of Southlake. After some discussion of the matter, Mr. W. C Cummings
suggested that this would probably be a matter to place before the Board of
Adjustments. C. M. Gordon made a motion that the problem be placed before
the gentlemen who comprised this Board with a request that a ruling be given
with all possible speed..not later than December 18, 1960. Mr. W. C Cummings
seconded the motion.
