Council Meeting, Southlake, Texas
November 12, 1960
The regular meeting of the City Council of bouthlake, Texas, was held
on Saturday at one o'clock, November 12, 1960.
Mayor John Stevenson presided over the meeting at which four members and
the secretary were present. R. E. Williams, W. C. Cummings, John H. Cope
and C. M. Gordon answered roll call, the minutes of the previous meeting were
read and approved. Mention was made of the check in amount of $75.93 which
had been deposited to the City's account by Southwestern States Telephone
Company; a check for $510.97 from the Texas Power and Light Company for its'
franchise payment of 2% on gross in the City's bounds, was handed to the
secretary for deposit. A printing and supply bill from Stafford-Lowden
Company in the amount of $17.56 was approved for payment. A statement submitted
by Mr. Frank Lanford for $24.00 for cases handled as City Corporation Court judge
was approved for payment.
Mention was made of the application of Mrs. John A. Quinn to operate a
kindergarten on the premises of her residence. The Council took no action
in this regard, deeming it unnecessary that the City rule on the matter since
Mrs. Quinn would be responsible to the local zoning laws of her immediate
area.
Mayor Stevenson asked that the Council approve purchase of seven copies
of the boundary maps. A motion was made by W. C. Cummings and seconded by
40 R. E. Williams that Mr. C. M. Gordon prepare these maps. Mr. Cummings also
made the motion that Mayor Stevenson have the necessary sheets of the City
a Ordinances reproduced by the cheapest method available. Mr. R. R. Williams
seconded this motion with the restriction that if the item should cost over
$60.00, the matter would be held in abeyance until further discussion at the
next regular Council meeting.
A group of gentlemen from Wichita Falls came to the meeting, seeking
information in regard to the problems of incorporating their own area. After
a lengthy discussion, they thanked the Council members for the courtesies
extended and left.
