Mayor John Tate called a special meeting of the City Council
for March 15, 1965.
Answering roll call at this time were Councilmen Marl Williams,
J. D. Cate, J. J. Carlile, and W. H. Crumbaker.
Mayor Tate explained the purpose of the meeting was to consider
a petition for annexation from Mr. Frank H. Groat and Associates
of Dallas, Texas. The land in question was approximately twenty
acres in the Samuel Freeman Survey--better known as part of the
old McPherson Place--which Mr. Groat had purchased and planned
to subdivide into residential tracts.
Council members read and discussed the petition and accompanying
or+ance which had been prepared by the petitioner's attorney.
Marl Williams made the notion to accept the petition for annexation
and ord&ance, subject to the approval of Mr. Ben McClure, as to
wording. The land was known to be in existence as outlined in the
description. Mr. Crumbaker seconded the notion and it carried.
There was no further business to conduct and by general agreement
the meeting was adjourned.
