The regular meeting of the City Council of Southlakewas held on
January S, 1965 at 7130 PM. Mayor Tate opened the session and
answering roll tail were-Councilmen M. H. Crumbaker, Paul Schell,
J. J. Carlile, J. D. Cate. Also present were Mr. Keller Austin,
n„ Corporation Court Judge, W. J. Hudson, and City Attorney Ben McClure.
o A visitor, Mr. Mark Gordon of Texas Pryer and Light Company, was
presented to the group. Mr. Gordon presented figures to show
lowered rates for the city's consumers of electricity--both the
commerical and residential users would be benefited by this adjusted
s rate.
After thanking Mayor Tate for this time to present his report, Mc.
Gordon excused himself and the business of the hour was discussed.
Routine-natters were attended,first..Acknowledgemee#Wf the Christmas
gifts were read. There had been no report from the FAA on the matter
w of Mr. Carney's airstrip.
Mr. McClure had a petition for annexation from M-. Irving Cope and
4 others. This was read and approved by Council. Mr. McClure presented
Ordnance Mo. 123 covering the annexation of this land. On motion of
J. J. Carlile, seconded by J. D, Cate, this land was annexed by unanimous
vote.

The secretary had prepared a financial statement for 1964 and copies
were passed to the councilmen and Mayor Tate. The report was read and
-n approved on motion made by W. H. Crumbaker and seconded by Paul Schell.
• A general discussion of the progress of the water program ensued.
On motion of Paul Schell, the meeting was adjourned.

SUCH AREA SHOULD BE.A PART OF THX.TOM OF

OF OTHER CITIZENS OF THE TOWN OLD SOUTHZ ARE, TEXAS,

COR'REC'TING OFFICIAL BOUNDARIES OF THS TOWN OF
SOUTHLAXR, TEXAS, AS HBRETOFORZ ADOPTZD AND
PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, Pursuant to Article 974 of the 1925 Revised Civil
Statutes of Texas# Irving Cope, Sr. and others, inhabitants of
the area herein described and who are qualified to vote for
members of the State Legislature, have heretofore filed with the
Mayor and the City Council of the Town of Southlaket Texas, their
petition requesting annexation of the said area to the Town of
Southlake, Texas, such area tieing described as foglows:
BEGINNING at the S. E. corner of the J..B. Martin Survey=
THENCE, East 394 varas to a stake in N. line of James West
Survey
THENCE, North 716 verbs to a stake in West line of the J. W.
Chi;vers Survey=
THENCE, west 394 varas to a stake in the West line of the
R. D. Price Survey and the East line of the J. B. Martin

THZNCZ, South 716 varas to the place of beginnings containing
50 acres of lands on the waters of Denton Creek.
WHAS, said petition was accompanied by an affidavit
executed by Irving Be Cope, Sr. and others, inhabitnats of the areas
described and who are qualified to vote for members of the State
Legislature and that by signing said affidavit certified that said
petition contains the signatures of more than fifty percent of the
qualified voters residing in such area who have voted in favor of
having the said area and'the inhabitants thereof annexed to and
become a part of the Town of Southlake, Texast and,
WHEREAS, it appearing to the City Council of the Town of a/
Southlake, Texas, that all statutory requirements in connection„
with said proposed annexation have been fulfilled and that the said
area duly grouped into one territory is not more than h mile in
width and that all.of same is,adjacent of the present City Limits
of the Town of Southlake, Texast
BE IT ORDAINRD BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF 80UTHLAICE, TEXAS#
1.
THE hereinbefore described territory lying adjacent to the
Town of Southlake* Texas, is hereby annexed and brought within the
corporate limits and made an integral part of the Town of Southlbke, s►
Texas.
THAT the inhabitants of the territory herein annexed to the
Town of Southlake, Texas, shall be entitled to all the rights and ; PP
privileges of, other citizens and bound by all the acts and ordinances
made in conformity thereto and passed and adapted in pursuant to
Title 28, Chapters 1 to 10 inclusive, Revised Civil Statutes of Texas,

THE official map and boundaries of the Town of Southlake, Texas,
to be corrected and amended so as to include the aforementioned
described territory as part of said Town.

THIS ordinance shall become effective from and alter its fin
passage and approved.
