Council Meeting
April 11,

w The regular monthly meeting of the City Council was held at the City
Hall. Mayor Tate opened the meeting and answering roil call were
J. J. Carlile, J. D. Cate, W. H. Crumbaker, Paul Schell, Visitors
were Mr. L. A. Casey and Mr. Floyd Tillman.

Mr. Tillman was invited to state his business with the Council. He
stated he was interested in having his land annexed by either Southlake
or Colleyville and wanted to see a map of our city. Mr. Tillman was
advised that it would be necessary to (1) check to see if his land
adjoined present Southlake boundaries (2) that an annexation ordinance,
prepared and paid for by him, would have to be presented to council,
approved by the City Attorney, then approved by Cbuncii.
The annual report of TP and L was passed among the members for perusal.

Several matters were discussed which required no immediate action of council.
(1) Speed zone and stopsigns at various intersections (2) dues to the Texas
Municipal League at $50.00 annually seemed too high at the present (3)that
Mr. Crook of the Texas Highway Department be asked to send a duplicate copy
of the ordinance referred to in a previous letter (4)emphasis placed on
dAVW written notice to both electric service companies regarding service without
permits--specifically mentioning the Calvin Carney project--(S)appointment
of Paul Schell and Bennie Burris to represent Southlake in the Highway Committee
recently established in Fort Worth; (6) an ordinance presented by Mr. Crumbaker
regarding civil defense fail-out shelters, was passed among the members and the
secretary was asked to make copies of this proposed ordinance in order that the
council members might study it carefytlly.
Routine bills were approved and also a statement for $36,00 for 18 chairs
purchased from Cannon Ball Company in Dallas.
Canvass of the votes of the April 7, 1964 election was made and approved.
Oath of office was not administered at this meeting but will be deferred
until the May meeting. The secretary was instructed to ask Mr, Ben McClure
to be present at this time,

RESOLUTION NO. 25
WHEREAS, on the 7th day of April, 1964, pursuant to the
provisions of Title 28, Chapter 2 of the 1925 Revised Civil
Statutes, the Election Code of the State of Texas, and
Resolution No. 24, heretofore adopted on the day
of ) 1964, after due notice as by law provided,
the general lection to elect three councilmen for a
term of two years was held within the limits of said Town:

WTMREAS on the _.day of April, 1964, at a meeting
of the Town Council, the results of said election were
convassed by the Mayor in the presence of the TOwn Council
and said canvass showed the results thereof was as follows:

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE TOWN COUNCIL OF SOUTHLFKE, TE,'U..S:
THAT, the canvass of the results of said election be, and
is hereby approved, and that W. H. Crumbaker, J. D. Cate,
and R. E. Williams having received the highest number of
votes for Councilman Places 3,4, and 5, are hereby elected
to said offices and are to serve as such officers as specified rb
above or until their successors are duly elected and qualified.
THAT, all such officers are hereby instructed to take the oath
of office as by law provided and file such oath with the
town secretary.`
