COUNCIL MEETING

CITY OF SOUTHLAKE
March 14, 1964
Mayor Tate opened the meeting at 2:30 PM in the city hall. Answering
roll call were councilmen W. H. Crumbakera Paul Schell, J. D. Cate,
J. J. Carlile, R. E. Williams. There were several other committeemen
present. Councilmen and the mayor welcomed the building commission
members Mr. Frank Denton, and Mrs. Denton, Mr. H. M. Hunter# G. W.
Hargadinea Henry Ridings, L. A. Casey; also, Mr. John Quinn of the
Board of Adjustments. A visitor was Mr. E. F. DePew.
First on the agenda was a general discussion of the duties of the
zoning and planning commissions and the duties of the board of adjustments.
It was decided that the chairman of the various boards would be notified
by the secretary prior to the meeting to be held in the first month of
each quarter and that they in turn would notify their members and that
r this particular meeting would be designated primarily for discussion of
matters relating to the various problems encountered. It was pointed
out that each chairman and member would be welcome at any and all meetings
of the City Council but that failure to attend same would not indicate
any dereliction of duty.

Coming up for general discussion was the matter of the Calvin Carney land Q
and the apparent activity indicating plans for "development"; a report on
the present status of the case against J. C. Wood for violation of the
zoning ordinance with installation of a trailer court without permit;
suggestion that Mr. Baird (furniture man) be reminded again that no furniture
was to be stored outside the premises; that Glen Burgess be cautioned in
regard to the size of the accumulation of iron and other salvage which he was
hauling on to land owned by Jones* Brothers; that an attempt be made again
to have the proper authorities allow the installation of a blinking or caution
light at the intersection of highway 114 and Carroll Road.
No definite action was taken. After routine consideration of bills$
c ncil was dismissed on motion of J. J. Carlile, seconded by Earl Williams.
