Dear Mr. Stollard;
Reguarding our telephone conversation concerning the proposed public
use Airport at Southlake Texas, I would like to offer these comments.
First I do not believe the property owners and public in the immediate
vicinity of the proposed Airport were given apple notice of this
situation to be able to spread the word and get a feeling of the
majority of the people, and then to properly a.nalize the facts to
determine whether the Airport would be a liability or an asset. I
first heard of the proposed Airport Thursday night Oct. 4, 1968, and
called you Friday 5th. which left only until the 11th, to answer your
query and I was the only one in the immediate vicinity that knew of
this proposal.
text let me say that the 5 airplanes and 30 take off and landings
on the application is totally unreal, upon looking into this I find
that Aero Activities Corp. intends to buy 186 Acres of land, build
the runways, hangars, officies, and have a flight school, and we are
speaking of an outlay of between roughly 1251 50,000 dollars, and
nobody spends that kind of money without expecting to recover same,
the President of Aero Activities stated to me they expected BIG
business due to being on the lake and a satalite Airport for the new
Regional Airport, also that the FAA was very much in favor of this
Airport. So the Application may state minor traffic but as anybody
can see, after the Airport is installed, Pandora's Box pops open,

and we have an Airport with major traffic in an area where people
have spent big money for land and houses to get away from the noise
and confusion, had they not wanted peace and quiet they would have
bought property by Lore Field or some other Airport.
Being an Airline Pilot myself, I am not opposed to Airplanes, in
their proper places, and being an Accident Representative of the
Airline Pilots Assn. I am familure, not ogly with the aftermath of
an accident but also many of the causes, and in my opinion, the
surrounding terrain, habitation etc, does not lend itself for the
safe operation of a public use Airport at this location, with the
training of etwdent pilots *to.
I respectfully request that more time be given the residents of this
area to reply to your office and that in your final decision the
Application be denied.
