Police Department Report 62 REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL JULY 15, 1969 The City Council of the City of Southlake, Texas, met in regular session in the Council Chamber of City Hall on Tuesday, July 15, 1969, with the following members present: J. L. Clow, Mayor J. D. Cate,Jr.,r,4ymcilman M. J. O'Brien, Councilman ' William B. Brown, Councilman Wade Booker, Councilman Absent: Thurman Hearn, Mayor Pro Tem , Mayor Clow called the meeting to order at 8 P.M. ' The minutes of the last meeting were approved as read. Mr. Glyn Morrison, • being first on the Agenda, appeared , before the Council to have further action taken against the "junk" yard next to him. Mayor Clow advised that the city attorney, Mr. Glenn Goodnight, feels any further action in the same vein is fruitless. The motion was made by Councilman Booker that the advice of the city , attorney be followed; seconded by Councilman O'Brien. The motion carried unanimously. Councilman Brown asked that Chief Ince serve a citation on Mr. Burgess if Mr. , Morrison would sign same and appear as a witness in court against him. They.both agreed to do this. Fire Chief Bob Steele reported that four fire-,calls were answered in a twenty-four hour period this date. Three new members and a diver have joined the Volunteer Fire ' Department. The City Secretary was directed to write a letter to Chief Steele's place of business advising of the necessity of his absence from work for emergencies ' that may arise from time to time in his position as Fire Chief of Southlake. Mayor Clow commended Chief Steele on his good work during the past month. ' Mr. Dick Drummond appeared to present the Council with additional information regarding the use of Government land for a city park. The Council unanimously agreed to hear him and then asked that he proceed with Southlake's 63 request for land. Mayor Clow thanked him for his efforts. Police Chief Ince gave a report on his department, citing the need for additional help. A service contract on the radios was discussed. Councilman Booker made a motion to approve the service policy offered by Bell Communications Service. Seconded by Councilman Cate. The motion carried unanimously. ' Mayor Clow asked the Council to appropriate money from the General Fund to pay for extra clerical help at the ' rate of $150 a month for a two month period for the purpose of preparing the 1969 tax roll. Councilman Brown so moved; seconded by Councilman Cate. The motion carried unanimously. There being no further buiness, the meeting was adjourned. J.
