ITEMS BROUGHT UP BY THE COUNCIL NOT ON THE AGENDA: COG - acceptance of 701 Plan and authorizing payment of $500 for Southlake's share. PUBLIC HEARINGS - Motion to set same on 1st Wednesday of each month at 7:30 PM. 44 1 REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL JUNE 17, 1969 The City Council of the City of Southlake, Texas, met in regular session at the City Hall on Tuesday, June 17, 1969, with the following'members present: Thurman Hearn, Mayor Pro Tea J. D. Cate, Councilman W. B. Brown, Councilman Wade Booker, Councilman Absent: J. L. Clow, Mayor M. J. O'Brien, Councilman Also present: Police Chief Doyle Ince and Manuel Gonzalez, Planning & Zoning Commission. Mayor-:.Pro T,em Hearn called the meeting to order at 8 P.M. The minutes of the regular meeting of May 20, 1969, were approved as read. The regular meeting of June 3, 1969, • was adjourned due to a lack of a quorum. The first order of business was a letter from COG regard- , ing Southlake's participation in its Cooperative Program. Councilman Brown made a motion to have the City Secretary , write a letter to COG advising them that our City Council has this date authorized the payment of $500 as its con- tribution to the Cooperative Program under the 701 Plan ' to be matched by $1,000 from HUD. This notion was seconded by Councilman Booker. Carried unanimously. The Council was advised that July 1, 1969, has been set as ' the date for public hearings on zoning changes as requested by Alpha Development Corporation, ZA-69-15,.and Gonzalez & Elder, ZA-69-8; said hearings to be held at City Hall at 7:30 p.m. Also, that July 15, 1969, has been set for the public hearing on the zoning change requested by Mrs. D. B. Gilbreath under ZA-69-14, at the time and place aforesaid. A motion was made by Councilman Brown to have public hear- ings set on the first Wednesday of each month at 7:30 p.m. in City Hall commencing in August. Seconded by Councilman Booker. Carried unanimously. } d5 A report from the Fire Department was made by Mayor Pro Ten Hearn in the absence of Fire Chief Bob Steele. Councilman Cate made a motion to appoint Lester Barrett Assistant Fire Chief. Seconded by Councilman Booker. Carried unanimously. Police Chief Doyle Ince reported the need for additional officers. Councilman Brown suggested postponement of this natter until the return of Mayor Clow. Discussion followed regarding animal control and the lack of sat- isfactory ambulance service. The Council directed the City Secretary to write a letter to Mr. Dick Lewis, Commi:ssionerfof Precinct 3, thanking him for the County's work on Dove and Kimball Roads and inquiring as to the County's plans for other roads in our community. Councilman Booker made a motion to adjourn the meeting; seconded by Councilman Brown. Carried unanimously.
