SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL
AUGUST 29, 1972
The City Council of the City of Southlake met in regular session in
the Council Chamber of City Hall in Southlake, Texas, on Tuesday,
August 29, 1972, with the following members present:
Wade Booker, Mayor
Billy Joe Knox, Councilman
W. 0. Nunn, Councilman
R. D. Drummond, Councilman
Absent: Frank Tetrault, Councilman
Mayor Booker called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. This meeting
was held for the purpose of holding a public hearing on the 1972-73
Budget as submitted to the Council. The Mayor invited those present
to ask questions or make comments.
David Moak asked about the projected figure for fines.
Roger Baird asked what percentage of the total traffic tickets written
were issued on SH 114 and how that compared with other streets in our
City. [No figures on this were readily available.]
Edward Seydler asked about the increase of employees in relation to
an increase in total salaries.
Joe Perez asked if individual figures were available.
James Reagan asked if the per unit [acre] land value is lower in large
tracts of land thaw, on a single unit basis.
David Moak asked what all was included in Personal and Professional
Services figure. He asked further if city planning was included such
as a sewer study.
Discussion followed on animal control.
There being no further questions or comments, the Mayor closed the
hearing on the Budget and invited those present to remain for further
business if they so desired.
Mayor Booker advised the Council that officer Talbert W. Lee had com-
pleted his police training and that a raise of $50 monthly, making his
total monthly salary $450, retroactive to August 15, 1972, was in order.
Councilman Knox so moved; seconded by Councilman Nunn. Motion carried
unanimously.

® In reference to a request from the owners
of the Catfish Hut,
Councilman Nunn moved that the City Secretary advise the owners
by letter that the City of Southlake would have no objections
to the City of Grapevine, if it so sees fit, to pick up garbage
at the Catfish Hut o~nl~ via the shortest route through the City
of Southlake; seconded-by Councilman Knox. Motion carried
unanimously.
Upon request of Fire Chief Bob Steele, the Council unanimously
approved of having a Southlake entrant in the annual Miss Flame
Contest.
Resolution Nol: 72-15 was unanimously approved and passed by the
Council appointing Joe A. Perez to fill the unexpired term of
Place 3 on the Council vacated by Ralph Polson. [Attached hereto
and made a part hereof.]
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned.

RESOLUTION NO. 72-15
WHEREAS, on the 15th day of August,
1972, Place 3 on the City Council
of the City of Southlake was vacated
by reason of the resignation of Ralph
W. Polson, Jr.; And
WHEREAS, it is necessary for the admin-
istration of the City's business for
the benefit and welfare of its citizens
that an appointment be made to fill such
vacancy; Now
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SOUTHLAKE, TEXAS, THAT:
1.
Joe A. Perez be hereby appointed to fill the unexpired term of
the office of Councilman for Place 3 on the City Council of the
City of Southlake, Texas.
