Members Absent: Board members: David Treichler - Vice Chairman, Heather King- Place 4, Jennifer Gatz- Alternate 1, Sridevi Vemulapalli-Alternate 3, Al Karmali- Alternate 4. Staff Present: Dennis Killough, Director of Planning, Wayne Powell, Principal Planner, Cyndi Cheng, Planner, and Carol Nemoto, Board Secretary. REGULAR SESSION: 1. Call to Order: Chairman Medici called the Regular Session to order at 6:30 P.M. 2. Executive Session: No executive session was held. 3. Approval of the Minutes: Chairman Medici opened the discussion of the minutes of the Zoning Board of Adjustment meeting for April 24, 2025. A motion was made to Approve the minutes of the Zoning Board of Adjustment for meetings April 24, 2025. Motion: Snead Second: Bernardo Ayes: Snead, Verbick, King, Bernardo, Medici Nays: None Abstain: None Vote: 5-0-0 Motion: Approved 4. Administrative Comments: Dennis Killough, Director of Planning, announced that the next scheduled meeting is on May 29, 2025. 5. Consider: ZBA25-0005, Special Exception Use, per Zoning Ordinance No. 480, Section 44.12(1) for a domestic employee or family quarters and Section 44.12 (6) for a reduction in the required setback for an accessory structure, on property described as Zoning Board of Adjustment Meeting Minutes – May 15, 2025 Page 2 of 2 Lot 22, Block 1, High Point Addition, located a 430 Shady Oaks Dr., Southlake, Tarrant County, Texas. Current Zoning: “SF-1A” Single Family Residential District. SPIN Neighborhood #6. PUBLIC HEARING 6. Principal Planner Wayne Powell presented details of the case with a slide show presentation to the Board. The representative, Robert Leeper at 630 E Southlake Blvd, on behalf of Christopher and Janet Schimek, is requesting a Special Exception Use. The purpose of this request is to seek approval for a Special Exception Use for a domestic employee or family quarters and a reduction in the required setback for an accessory structure. The Representative, Robert Leeper, once sworn in, presented testimony, and answered questions from the Board. Chairman Medici asked if there were those in the audience who wished to speak in support of the request. There being none, Chairman Medici asked if there were those in the audience who wished to speak in opposition to the request. David Mims of 717 Edward Ct., spoke about this item neither stating in support or opposition. There being none, Chairman Medici closed the public hearing and opened the item for discussion from the Board. A motion was made to Approve case ZBA25-0005 Motion: Snead Second: Verbick Ayes: Snead, Verbick, King, Bernardo, Medici, Nays: None Abstain: None Vote: 5-0-0 Motion: Approved- With an exception: The windows on the north and west side of the structure will be 6’ above the floor line. 7. Meeting Adjournment: Chairman Medici adjourned the meeting at 7:12 P.M. *A recording of this meeting will be permanently retained in the City Secretary’s Office.
