Agenda Item #2 Approval of the Minutes.
With no objections the minutes of July 31, 1998 were deemed approved by the Chair as
presented.
Agenda Item #3 Administrative Comments.
Ms. Karen Gandy, Zoning Administrator, reported COG training will not be until July 1999
and she had zoning maps and aerial maps of the City of Southlake.
Mr. Wright reported the next meeting will be September 24, 1998.
Agenda Item #4 ZBA Case #298, Variance
ZBA Case # 298 a request for a variance to Ordinance No. 480, Section 34.2 (e) which
requires that accessory building shall not exceed one story or fourteen (14) feet in height. The
applicant is requesting an accessory building height not to exceed twenty-two (22) feet as
defined in the Uniform Building Code. The location is 702 West Southlake Boulevard (F.M.
1709), legally described as Lot 2, Block 1, Owen Addition, and being approximately 10 acres
situated in the Littleberry G. Hall Survey, Abstract No. 686. The current zoning is "AG"
Agricultural District. The owner is Gary R. Levitz, and the applicant is Tom R James.
Karen Gandy, Zoning Administrator, reported that thirteen ( 13) notices were sent to property
owners within 200 feet and there were three (3) response in favor of the request

Mr. Tom R. James, applicant, was present requesting the variance. Mr. James said the
accessory building 14,480 S. F. is to serve as a horse barn with an indoor riding area for
family use and equipment storage.

There was no other person wishing to speak either in favor or in opposition of the request.
Public Hearing Closed.
The findings were stated by Mr. Sorenson.
Pursuant to the findings set forth in this case, a motion was made to Grant ZBA Case # 298 a
variance to Ordinance No. 480 Section 34.2(e) as requested.
Motion: Troy
Ayes: Minder, Smart, Troy, Sorenson, Harris
Nays: None
Vote: 5 - 0 to grant the request

With no objections the Chair deemed the meeting adjourned.
