2025-025 Resolution RESOLUTION NO.25-025 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF SOUTHLAKE, TEXAS, HONORARILY DESIGNATING THE SECTION OF FM 1938 FROM FM 1709 NORTH TO THE SOUTHLAKE CITY LIMIT AS "GARY FICKES WAY"; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the City of Southlake, Texas ("City") is a home rule municipality acting under its charter adopted by the electorate pursuant to Article XI, Section 5, of the Texas Constitution and Chapter 9 of the Texas Local Government Code; and WHEREAS, for eighteen years, Gary Fickes served the citizens of Tarrant County as Commissioner for Precinct 3 with dedication, leadership, and integrity; and WHEREAS, Gary Fickes served as Mayor of the City of Southlake from 1989 to 1996;and WHEREAS,Gary Fickes also served the Southlake community through his service on the Tarrant County Mayors Council, the Southlake Planning and Zoning Commission, and the Southlake Historical Society; and WHEREAS, throughout his over 35 years of community involvement as commissioner, mayor, and community leader, Gary Fickes demonstrated an unwavering commitment to improving the quality of life for all residents of Tarrant County,championing projects that enhance infrastructure,public safety,and community development; and WHEREAS, Gary Fickes' visionary leadership was instrumental in the planning and implementation of numerous initiatives that have had a lasting impact on the growth and prosperity of Southlake and Tarrant County,including the expansion of FM 1938. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTHLAKE,TEXAS,THAT: SECTION 1. FM 1938 from FM 1709 north to the City limits of the City of Southlake is hereby honorarily to be known as "Gary Fickes Way," and the City Manager is hereby authorized to erect appropriate signage to reflect this designation. SECTION 2. This Resolution shall become effective from and after itsl passage. PASSED AND APPROVED this the 11.7 day of JU4&d— ,2025.
