SUBJECT: Consider final concept(s) from Liz Bonham
Action Requested: Crime Control and Prevention District review and recommendation
to City Council for approval of the artist Liz Bonham final concept of
a painting to be placed in 1 location at the new DPS facility.
Background
Information: The Crime Control and Prevention District Board created a
subcommittee to recommend art for the new DPS facility. The
committee created review criteria, and through a call to artists
received twenty one responses. Following a detailed review of the
proposals that number was cut to seven for detailed responses.
The Committee then reviewed those responses and chose a
sculpture and painting with a particular artist to do each. The
subcommittee then presented their choices to the Crime Control
Board who subsequently affirmed their recommendations. This item
is the approval of the final concept of Liz Bonham one of the artists
that was chosen. The Artist is currently under contract with the city.
Financial
Considerations: Funding for the project will come from the Crime Control and
Prevention District Board and will be the allowed 1 % of the
proposed construction cost to be at or about $285,000. This
portion of the project will be $5,000 of the total

areas of the city's strategy map including: C3 - Provide attractive
and unique spaces for enjoyment or personal interest. F3 — Invest
to provide and maintain high quality public assets.

Board Review: Recommendation of acceptance of final concept(s) by the artist
from Crime Control and Prevention District Board and same from
the Southlake Arts Council followed by approval of final concept by
City Council.
Legal Review: Completed by City Attorneys.
Alternatives: Southlake Arts Council will be reviewing the final concept at their
May meeting.

Documents: Final concept from the artist Liz Bonham well be available for
review at each of the meetings indicated above, but may not
necessarily be available in advance of the meeting.
