1.Call to Order – The meeting was called to order at 4:16 P.M. by Safiy Islam.
2. Consent
A. Approve the minutes from the Southlake Youth Action Commission
meeting held January 08, 2024 - The motion to approve the minutes
with no corrections was made by Kanha Jain and seconded by Allison
Bedwell. Motion carried (7-0). Board members that voted: Allison
Bedwell, Safiy Islam, Annika Rao, Anya Reddy, and Kanha Jain.
Alternates that voted: Greer McDevitt, and Anushka Velala
3. Consider
A.Rescheduling March 11, 2024, SYAC Meeting to March 18, 2024 -
Assistant to the Director of Community Services, Milenka Lopez
presented Item 3A for consideration. A motion was made by board
member, Kanha Jain to reschedule the March 11, 2024, SYAC regular
meeting to March 18, 2024, and seconded by board member Anya
Reddy. Motion carried (7-0). Board members that voted: Allison

4. Discussion
A.YAC Summit Review -
Assistant to the Director, Milenka Lopez, presented an overview of the
2024 YAC Summit held in Dallas for discussion and was available to
answer questions. SYAC members who attended provided a summary
of the conference. Members discussed potentially attending the YAC
Summit in 2025 if it's local to DFW or hosting their own conference
instead.

B. Adopt-A-Street Reminder -
Assistant to the Director of Community Services, Milenka Lopez
reminded members of the Commission of the set clean-up date. Street
clean-up will be held on February 19, 2024, at 4:15 P.M.

C.City Council Presentation -
Assistant to the Director, Milenka Lopez item 4C for discussion and
was available to answer questions. As per the SYAC bylaws, SYAC
members must present an annual report to the City Council once per
academic year.
Direction to Staff - Confirm date: April 16th for City Council
Presentation at 5:30 P.M.
D. Guest Speaker: Programs Coordinator, Jason Ellison -
Programs Supervisor, Sara Farris, was unable to attend. Programs
Coordinator, Jason Ellison, attended the meeting and discussed his job
as a recreational program coordinator and was available to answer
questions. He presented the Club Metro Prom and requested help from
SYAC to plan a craft and activity. SYAC decided to host a dance
competition as the activity and have a crown/ tiara decorating activity
for the craft.
