A.Approval of the minutes from the December 11, 2023, Southlake Youth Action
Commission meeting - Please make any corrections to the minutes part of the
motion for consideration.
3.Agenda Item No. 3. Discussion
A.Adopt-A-Street For February- This item allows an update on the Adopt-A-Street
program. No packet document.
B.YAC Summit- This item allows for a discussion about SYAC participation in the
2024 Texas Municipal League Youth Action Commission Summit hosted in
Lewisville, TX on Saturday, February 3, and Sunday, February 4. No packet
document.
C.Guest Speaker and Activity: Public Safety Tour of DPS Headquarters- This item
allows for the Southlake Youth Action Commission members to tour the DPS
Headquarters and allows for discussion with members of the Public Safety
Department. No packet document.
4.Agenda Item No. 4. Adjournment

AGENDA:
1.Call to Order – The meeting was called to order at 4:20 P.M. by Vice-Chair Safiy Islam.
2. Consent
A.Approve the minutes from the Southlake Youth Action Commission meeting
held November 13, 2023- The motion to approve the minutes with no
corrections was made by Safiy Islam and seconded by Allison Bedwell.
Motion carried (5-0).
3. Discussion
A. Adopt-A-Street Date Update-
Assistant to the Director of Community Services, Milenka Lopez mentioned
that the construction on Shady Oaks should be completed by mid-January.
The Commission discussed to reconvene and choose a date later.
Direction to Staff- Choose a Clean-up date at the next meeting.
B.Home for the Holidays Debrief–
Vice Chair, Safiy Islam brought up the idea that we should include barricades
of some sort for crowd management for the Cake Walk at future events. It

was also mentioned that we should consider crafts that are less messy if we
continue to offer such activities for easier cleanup and maintenance.
Direction to Staff- None.
C.2024 YAC Summit Discussion-
Vice Chair, Safiy Islam, and, Assistant to the Director of Community Services,
Milenka Lopez disclosed the dates of the YAC Summit are February 2-4,
2024, and determined the dates SYAC will attend will be February 3-4, 2024.
Members interested in attending must email Milenka to be registered for the
event by the early January deadline.
Direction to Staff- Register members for the YAC Summit
D.Guest Speaker and Activity: Civil Engineer, Bryan Ahumada-
Bryan Ahumada was scheduled to be the Guest Speaker however, due to
illness, Mr. Jack Thompson, the Deputy Director of Public Works presented
instead.
Deputy Director Thompson discussed the city's plan to improve mobility by
implementing a Sidewalk Program and was available to answer questions.
Direction to Staff- None.
4.Adjournment – Safiy Islam adjourned the meeting at 5:00 P.M.
