Prioritized with the adopted plan was the construction of a new Pickleball Complex. The bid for construction was awarded in March of 2023, with construction beginning the week of April 17, 2023. Substantial completion is expected for the beginning of December with an opening timeline of late December 2023 or early January 2024. Throughout this time, staff has been working with stakeholders across City Council, SPDC, and Parks Board to develop an Operations Plan for the Pickleball facility. Approving the fees and rates of operation for the new pickleball complex is a crucial part of finalizing the Operations Plan. These fees were determined with a focus to develop a plan that prioritizes use by Southlake residents to learn the game of pickleball while still allowing players of all levels and ability and non-residents to play.
