COUNCILPERSON ABSENT: Lloyd Latta CITY STAFF PRESENT: City Attorney; Bill Smith, Fire Chief; R.P. Steele, Water Superintendent; Wallace Cline, Acting Police Chief; Randy Martin. INVOCATION: Bruce McCombs The Minutes of the November 3, City Council meeting were approved as corrected. MAYORS REPORT: Mayor Sparger announced that the Southlake Woman's Auxiliary to the Volunteer Fire Department will be having a bake sale on November 21, at Station #2, 667 North Carroll Ave. Mayor also announced that progress is being made in the selection of a Police Chief. At that time he announced that Randy Martin, acting chief, withdrew his application for Police Chief. A Christmas Party will be held on December 18 for all employees and their families, Committee members and their families, Volunteer firemen and families, and reserve police officers and their families. The event will be given by Mayor Sparger and his family and will be held at the Middle School Cafeteria. Mr. Spriggs indicated that GTE is trying very hard to get their employee properly trained to better serve the community. Mr. Spriggs answered questions for the Council concerning problem areas. Stricker x Ordinance No. 267, Calling a Bond ORD. 267 Westerholm x x Election was approved after Mayor BOND McCombs x Sparger read the Ordinance in its ELECTION Massey x x entirety. A discussion was held by the Council and Citizens in the audience concern- ing the election which will be held on December 19. Scotty Harrison addressed Council concerning the possible annexation of his one acre tract of land in the Jesse G. Allen Survey. After discussi n, the request was tabled, at the request of Mr. Harrison. A discussion was held concerning the wishes and view points of the Council in regards to Cable Television for Southlake. Several citizens prese t spoke in favor of having Cable TV. Council agreed that Cable TV for Southlake should be pursued. DEPARTMENT REPORTS: Stricker x Approval was given for the purchase Westerholm x x of 18 pager holders @ $13.50 each, McCombs x x and a 60 amp battery charger for the Massey x City Fire Department. Richard Anderson, Captain of the Reserve Police Officers introduced Benny J. Perry to Council and recommen- ded him as a reserve officer for Southlake. After discussion, motion was McCombs x x made and approved for Mr. Perry to Massey x x join the Reserve force. Stricker x x The bills presented, were approved Westerholm x x for payment. Attached hereto and made McCombs x a part hereof. Massey x CLOSED SESSION 1. Keller Rural Water Negotiations.
