The Minutes of the previous meeting
were approved as presented.
A public hearing was held in an effort
to get citizen imput on the issue of
Firearm Control in the City of South-
lake. Ordinance No. 109, currently
in effect was discussed by Council.
Citizens who spoke against the PROPOSEI
proposed Ordinance No. 279, (attached ORDINANCE
hereto and made a part hereof) includ
ed: Jim Shelton, Larry Samartin, NO. 279
Barney Stevens, C.A. Prade, Ronnie
Williams, Mr. Leach, Ira Hines, Steve
Davidson, David Dowd, Roger Baird,
Paul Shell-, Joe Coker, Jack Dyer,
Shirley Leach, Billy Jon Curb and
Gary Fuller.
Police Chief, Randy Martin commented
that he is happy to have citizen
comments, because Councilmembers
need to have comments reflecting
both sides of an issue.

Suggestion was made with the second
to the motion that a Citizens Advisory
Group be formed to research the
issue further.
Westerholm commented that the issue
of Firearm Control is not a dead issue
Mayor Pro Tem Latta led a discussion WATER MAP
which spelled out the need for an UPDATE
update of the cities water system APPROVED
map. He informed Council that the las
update was made in October 1976.
Eddie Cheatham, engineer for the City
indicated that the maps should include
the status of the lines, location of
the taps and location of all fire
hydrants as a minimum.

Loris x Motion was made and approved for the
Westerholm x x authorization of a $3,000 expenditure

ZA 82-38. The zoning request for a on ZA 82-38
acre tract of land out of the Hiram ZONING
Granberry Survey, Abstract 581, was APPROVED

MAYORS REPORT
Mayor Sparger announced that the lette
written to the PUC concerning General
Telephone Company was acted upon
favorably.

Hall/Fire Hall facilities project,

Council agreed that the color of the
metal building would be tan, the
facilities would be total electric
except for the fire bays and that
footing would be added to the north
side of the building for bricking
in the future.
Marion Bone gave a report on his find
ings concerning the computer selecti n
study for city hall. He would like t
recommend an IBM System 23 which will
have two printers housing our utility
billing and payroll-personnel. He
indicated that the printers will be
Model # 5242.
Bone indicated the system may be
acquired by lease agreement or
purchase. He will place the item on
the Council agenda in the near future
for consideration.
Westerholm informed Council that
Keller residents are asking the
Texas State Highway Department to
change FM1709 to a State Highway.
Petitions are now be circulated.
The meeting was adjourned by Mayor
Sparger.
