Item 8B - MemoCITY OF SOUTHLAKE MEMORANDUM April 29, 2025 To: Alison Ortowski, City Manager From: Amy Shelley, City Secretary Item 8B Subject: Resolution No. 25-010, appointing representatives to the Audit Committee, Southlake Parks Development Corporation, Corridor Planning Committee and Metroport Teen Court as a result of the May 3, 2025, uncontested General Election. Action Requested: Appoint representatives to the Audit Committee, Southlake Parks Development Corporation, Corridor Planning Committee, and Metroport Teen Court as a result of the May 3, 2025, uncontested General Election. Background Information: Several Southlake boards and commissions include City Council appointees. Board members are typically two years, unless an individual is appointed to fill a vacancy. During their time in office, Council members are assigned to serve on various boards. However, board terms often do not align with Council members' elected terms. As a result, when a Council member leaves office, it may create a vacancy on the associated board or commission. October 2026 Staff is seeking action by the Council to fulfill vacancies on the above -identified boards as a result of the May 3, 2025 uncontested General Election. Alternatives: Adopt resolution appointing members to fill the place and chair vacancies or leave them vacant to fill during a later appointment period. RESOLUTION NO. 25-010 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTHLAKE, TEXAS, APPOINTING REPRESENTATIVES TO FULFILL VACANCIES ON VARIOUS BOARDS, AND PROVDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. Whereas, the City Council appoints members of the public to various boards, commissions and committees to serve a two-year term, unless indicated otherwise; and, Whereas, the membership and qualifications for each board, commission and committee are identified by City Charter, ordinance, or resolution; and, Whereas, the Audit Committee, Southlake Parks Development Corporation, and the Corridor Planning Committee have vacancies as the result of the May 3, 2025 uncontested General Election; and, Whereas, Council desires to appoint representatives to fulfill such vacancies. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTHLAKE, TEXAS, THAT: Section 1. All the findings in the preamble are found to be true and correct and the City Council does hereby incorporate said findings into the body of this resolution as if copied in its entirety. Section 2. The following representatives are appointed to serve as board, members for the stated terms and until their successors have been duly appointed and qualified by Council.
