REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL
AUGUST 3, 1971
The City Council of the City of Southlake met in regular
session in the Council Chamber of City Hall on Tuesday,
August 3rd, 1971, wth the following members present:
Wade Booker, Mayor
Ralph Polson, Mayor Pro Tem
Billy Joe Knox, Councilman
W. 0. Nunn, Councilman
R. D. Drummond, Councilman
Absent: Thurman Hearn, Councilman
Also present: W. D. Campbell, City Attorney
Mayor Booker called the meeting to order at 7:30 P.M. The
invocation was given by Councilman Polson.
Minutes of the last regular meeting were approved as read.
Persons present at the public hearing of Paul Crutsinger's
request for L District zoning on his property along SH 114,
west of Pleasant Run Road were invited to state their views
by the Mayor. Claude Chambers of Irving, Texas, spoke in
favor of zA-71-8 , stating he had an interest in the property.
Discussion followed, whereupon, Councilman Polso n moved that
the zoning be changed from Ag District to L District; sec-
onded by Councilman Knox. (Copy of Ordinance No. 161 -29 is
attached hereto and made a part hereof. Motion was unanimous.
Fire Department Report was given by Chief R. P. Steele. The
Council were in general agreement to have C. D. Gittings
take care of various equipment routine repair. Councilman
Knox moved to have Jack Weddel appointed as Fire Marshal;
' seconded by Councilman Polson. Motion carried unanimously.
Police Department Report was given by Capt. Dan Cordes.
Chief Douglas Hughes then addressed the Council requesting
permission to destroy a badly soiled, torn mattress belong-
ing to the City, to which the Council agreed. He further
requested that the City purchase two riot guns for the patrol
cars at a total cost of $199.10. Councilman Knox so moved;
' seconded by Councilman Polson. Motion carried unanimously.
The bills presented were approved for payment on motion by

Councilman Knox; seconded by Councilman Nunn. Motion
carried unanimously.
Mayor Booker read a report from Manuel Gonzalez regard-j
ing the meeting at HUD in Dallas July 22nd about water
and sewage problems confronting communities. (Copy
attached.)
The Planning & Zoning Commission recommendation re ard-
ing building lines was presented to the Council. Copy
attached.) The Council generally agreed that the City
Engineers, Carter & Burgess, be asked for their opinion.
ZA-71-9 and ZA-71 -10 were set for public hearing on
September 7, 1971 , at 7:30 P.M. at City Hall.
Councilman Drummond asked that all citizens be urged to
support our local post office branch.
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned.
