1969-04-15 Regular CC Meeting 27 REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL APRIL 159 1969 The City Council of the City of Southlake, Texas, met inr regular session at the City Hall on Tuesday, April 15, 1969, with the following members present: J. L. Clow, Mayor Thurman Hearn, Mayor Pro Ten J. D. Cate, Councilman M. J. O'Brien, Councilman W. B. Brown, Councilman Wade Booker, Councilman Also present: Police Chief Doyle Ince Glenn Goodnight, City Attorney Mayor Clow called the nesting to order at 7:30 P.M. The minutes of the regular meeting of April 1, 1969, were approved as read. The minutes of the special meeting of ' • April 8, 19.69, were approved as read. City Attorney Glenn Goodnight administered the oath of ' office to J. L. Clow, re-elected as mayor. Mayor Clow administered the oath of office to Councilman W. B. Brown, re-elected to Place 1, and to Councilman Wade Booker, el ' ected to Place 2. Dr. M. M. Vale, D.®.M., appeared before the Council in ' response to a letter from the City Secretary advising him of his violation of City Ordinance No. 161. Mayor Clow advised his he was also in violation of an ordinance est- ablished in 1956, prohibiting the operation of a business in a residential area. In response to his query, he was informed of the procedure to follow in order to appear ' before the City of Southlake Planning & Zoning Commission to request a change in zoning. Mr. Sammy Farine requested permission to put a trailer ' on his property until his house is built. No action taken. Mr. Lester Barrett asked for city sponsorship of Little • League Baseball, A decision on this request was postponed ' to the neat council meeting. April 15, 1969-1 28 Ralph Polson, representing the Volunteer Fire Depart- ment, asked that the City take care of the financial responsibilities of the Department. Councilman Brown moved that the City assume the financial responsibili- ties, take care of the bookkeeping, and pay all the bills of the Fire Department's proposed by its Budget Committee and approved by the City. 9o4*cIIm7as 'Booker seconded the motion. Carried unanimously. Howard Moffat tendered his resignation as Chief of the Southlake Volunteer Fire Department due to his ' lack of time to devote to the job. Councilman Hearn made a motion to accept his resignation, seconded by J. D. Cate. Carried unanimously. C. M. Gordon informed the Council through Mayor Clow of his intention to resign as chairman of the Planning Zoning Commission. There being no further business, Councilman Brown made ' a motion to adjourn, seconded by Councilman Booker. • Carried unanimously. The meeting adjourned at 9:00 P.M. 1 "J. .
