Backer plate is denied as requested. - The approved Nordstrom Rack sign variance (SV09-006) for this lease space permitted a 24-inch "Nordstrom" letters, 54-inch "r", "a", and "c" letters, and a 93-inch letter "k". The proposed sign will have internally lit white faced channel letters with 18- inch "Nordstrom" letters, 70-inch "r", "a", and "c" letters and a 96-inch ("k") with a 11'- 2 1/8" inch by 22'- 4 1/8" grey backer plate (250 sf). The City's Sign Ordinance no longer permits backer plates and the MSP for Shops of Southlake does not specifically allow them. - Applicant is given flexibility with color, and to work with staff relative to reverse channel lite.
