City of Southlake CITY COUNCIL JUNE RETREAT MEETING OFFICIAL RECORD Marriott Solana 5 Village Circle, Salons A & B Westlake, Texas 76262 DAY TWO - JUNE 16, 2006 MINUTES CITY COUNCIL PRESENT: Mayor Andy Wambsganss, Mayor Pro Tern Carolyn Morris, Deputy Mayor Pro Tern John Terrell, and Councilmembers: Laura K. Hill, Gregory Jones, and Virginia M. Muzyka. CITY COUNCIL ABSENT: Councilmember Vemon Stansell. STAFF PRESENT: City Manager Shana Yelverton, Deputy City Manager Jim Blagg, Assistant to the City Manager Ben Thatcher, Director of Community Services Steve Polasek, Director of Economic Development Greg Last, Director of Finance Sharen Jackson, Director of Human Resources Kevin Hugman, Director of Planning Ken Baker, Director of Public Safety Rick Smith, Director of Public Works Bob Price, and City Secretary Lori Farwell. Agenda Item No. L Opening comments. Mayor Wambsganss called the meeting to order at 8:35 a.m. and welcomed those in attendance. Agenda Item No.2. Discussion: Budget and policy issues. Director Price updated Council on the implementation of the Drainage Utility System. Director Hugman then briefed Council on facility maintenance issues, both in Town Hall and other City facilities. Directors Polasek and Price updated Council on the status of current Capital Improvement Projects. Director Price then updated Council on the status of the FM1938 project. Mayor Wambsganss called for a break at 10:25 a.m. and reconvened the meeting at 10:45 a.m. Director Last's discussion of hotel occupancy tax included the topics of statutory authorization, definitions, authorized uses, and potential uses. Director Baker discussed various developmental issues with Council. Council participated in a working lunch where Debbie Reid and Terri Messing presented information on the Apex Regional Arts Center. Mayor Wambsganss called for a break at 3:40 p.m. and reconvened at 3:50 p.m. Council then discussed the placement of a historical log cabin. Agenda Item No.3, Adjournment.
