Members Present: Chair MaryLee Alford, Vice Chair Greta Schumacher, and SAC members
Brent Mcllvain, William Meddings
Commission Members Absent: Julie Walter, Bernadette MacDermott
Staff Members Present: Deputy Director of Community Services Ryan McGrail, Hospitality
and Sales Manager of Legends Hall at The Marq Southlake Crystal Maddalena, Senior
Services Coordinator Soheila Mashat-Phelps, Senior Recreation Specialist, Senior Activity
Center Dan Nino
1. CALL TO ORDER
Chair MaryLee Alford called the meeting of the Senior Advisory Commission to order at
1:00 P.M.
2. PUBLIC FORUM
Chair Alford opened the Public Forum at 1:00 P.M.
Gloria Buczek from 4000 Fondren Ct., Southlake, TX, spoke during the Public Forum about
the importance of the Senior Center to Members.
Jenelle Bertolino from 12467 Merit Dr. Dallas, TX, spoke about the Senior Living
Community during the Public Forum.
Chair Alford closed the Public Forum at 1:08 P.M.
3. DISCUSSION: (No Vote on Discussion Items)
A. Senior Activity Center Update - Soheila Phelps, Senior Services Coordinator, and Dan
Nino, Senior Recreation Specialist
Soheila Phelps and Dan Nino gave the Senior Activity Center Update and were
available to answer questions.
B. Budget Update - Crystal Maddalena, Hospitality and Sales Manager
Crystal Maddalena presented the budget and was available to answer questions.

C. Yearly Review — Proposed Speakers
Crystal Maddalena reviewed the proposed timelines for speakers for the year. No
comments from the Commission were given.
D. Meeting Dates for the Year
Crystal Maddalena presented the proposed meeting dates for the year. No comments
from the Commission were given.
4. Consider
Election of Vice -Chair and Secretary
Chair Alford presented the Election of Vice -Chair and Secretary. The Commission
nominated Greta Schumacher as Vice -Chair and Brent Mcllvain as Secretary.
APPROVED
A motion was made to approve the nomination of Vice -Chair and Secretary

Nays: None
Abstention: None
Vote: 4-0
Motion passed.
5. CONSENT
Consent Agenda items are considered routine by the Commission and are enacted with
one motion.
A. Approve the minutes from the September 10, 2024, Senior Advisory Commission
Meeting
Chair Alford presented the Consent Agenda, including approval of the minutes
from the September 10, 2024, meeting. Chair Alford asked if there were any
revisions to the minutes. No revisions.
A motion was made to approve the minutes of September 10, 2024.
