A. Fitness Equipment for Community Recreation Center – The purpose of
this item is for SAC to preview the fitness equipment for The Marq
Southlake’s senior center section. This item has no packet document.
B. Senior Advisory Commission July 14 Meeting – The purpose of this item is
to allow SAC an opportunity to discuss and consider cancelling and/or
rescheduling the July 14 regular Senior Advisory Commission meeting, if
desired. Previously, following the lead of the City Council in canceling their
July meetings, SAC has canceled their July 9, 2013 and July 8, 2014
meetings.
4. Agenda Item No. 4. Reports:
A. City Manager’s Office & Community Services – This is a standing item on
the agenda to allow for an update from the City’s Communications and
Website Manager Pilar Schank and Community Services Department staff
regarding current developments. This item has no packet document.
B. Metroport Meals on Wheels – This item is a standing item on the agenda
to allow for a report on the MMOW program. This item has no packet
document.
C. Call A Ride Southlake – This item is a standing item on the agenda to
allow for a report on the CARS program. This item has no packet
document.

agenda to allow for a report on Southlake Senior Funding, Inc., (SSFI).
This item has no packet document.
5. Agenda Item No. 5. Public Forum: – This is the public's opportunity to address
the Commission about non-agenda items. During Public Forum, the Commission
will not discuss or take action on any item presented. The Commissions' options
during this topic are 1) to listen, 2) ask questions and respond to the presenter
only, 3) request staff to look into the issue and report back to the Commission
and/or 4) request that the Chair put the item on a future agenda for the
Commission to discuss or consider.

1. CALL TO ORDER
Chairman Nancy Sporn called the meeting of the Senior Advisory Commission to
order at 1:10 p.m.
Guests and new staff members introduced themselves.
2. CONSENT AGENDA Consent Agenda items are considered to be routine by the
Commission and are enacted with one motion.

4. REPORTS
4A. CITY MANAGER’S OFFICE & COMMUNITY SERVICES
The regular City Manager’s Office report was not available due to the absence of
Communications & Website Manager Pilar Schank.
Deputy Director Kate Meacham updated the Commission regarding the fitness
equipment proposed for the senior’s exercise room in The Marq Southlake.
Equipment vendors will provide pieces for members to “test” before equipment is
selected. Information about opportunities to test the fitness equipment will be
provided at the next meeting.
Director Chris Tribble updated the Commission on the progress of construction of
The Marq Southlake and was available to answer questions.
4B. METROPORT MEALS ON WHEELS
The regular monthly MMOW report was not available due to the absence of MMOW
representative Mary King.
4C. CALL A RIDE SOUTHLAKE
CARS representative Brighton Greene presented the CARS monthly statistics report
and explained fluctuations in ridership statistics. In addition to CARS’ usual trip
destinations, CARS will provide rides to the polls for the May election. Mr. Greene
was available to answer questions.
4D. SENIOR SERVICES COORDINATOR
Senior Services Coordinator Soheila Phelps reported about upcoming programs,
events and field trips offered at the Center and was available to answer questions.
4E. SOUTHLAKE SENIOR FUNDING, INC.
Southlake Senior Funding, Inc., Secretary Nancy Sporn reported on SSFI
sponsorship efforts and activities. Ms. Sporn was available to answer questions.

5. PUBLIC FORUM
Chairman Sporn acknowledged the public forum. There being no one wishing to
speak, Chairman Sporn proceeded to the next agenda item.
The Commission discussed inviting Director of Planning Ken Baker and Economic
Development Director Shannon Hamons to be guest speakers at upcoming SAC
meetings.
6. CONSIDER
6A. SENIOR ADVISORY COMMISSION 2ND QUARTER WRITTEN REPORT TO CITY
COUNCIL
Senior Services Coordinator Soheila Phelps presented the 2nd Quarter Report for the
Commission’s feedback. No changes were made to the Report.
The Commission approved of the Report as presented, however they did not take
formal action by vote.
