20 Agenda Item No. 1, Call to Order. - Vice Chair Jeff Walter called the meeting to order at
21 6:05 p.m.

25 Aqenda Item No. 2A - Administrative Comments - Public Arts training opportunities for
26 staff.

28 Mr. McGeath will join a group called Business for Culture in August. The group has a
29 program for business leaders to be involved in the arts. There is a twelve month course
30 that meets once a month. The group will visit various museums and meet the
31 executives. We are also joining Americans for the Arts to get access to more
32 information about public art.

34 Agenda Item No. 2A - Administrative Comments - Special meeting of the Southlake
35 Arts Council on April 15, 2009.

37 The Council needs to look at the final concepts from the painter and the sculptor for the
38 DPS facility. Once the Crime Control Board and the Arts Council approves the
39 concepts, then this information will be presented to the City Council.

43 Agenda Item No 3A - Consider. - Approval of minutes from the February 4, 2009

2 Agenda Item No. 3B - Consider. - Delay presentation of recommendation to Council for
3 Trish Biddle paintings until the 2" Council meeting in June 2009.

5 A motion was made, seconded and unanimously agreed upon to table this item until the
6 next meeting.

10 Aqenda Item No. 4 - Public Forum - The Public Forum was opened at 6:20 pm. As
11 there was no one to speak, it was closed at 6:21 pm.

13 DISCUSSION:

15 Aqenda Item No. 5A - Discussion. - Arts community contacts and CISD coordination -
16 developing a comprehensive approach to Public Art in Southlake
17
18 The CISD art teachers will have a showing in Town Hall during Art in the Square. The
19 Library will be open on Sunday during Art in the Square. The high school art students
20 have created videos which will run in a loop in the Executive Conference Room during
21 Art in Square. The art teachers will volunteer during the festival. There was discussion
22 about joint meetings with the Arts Council and the teachers.

24 Agenda Item No. 5B - Discussion. - Process for art displayed in Town Hall or other City
25 facilities.

27 There was discussion about art showings using Town Hall as a gallery. When public art
28 is bought in the future, examples of the artists' work will be displayed online so the
29 citizens can answer a survey about the artists. This information will make a more valid
30 presentation to the Council.

32 Agenda Item No. 5C - Discussion. - Public Arts Projects

34 Archie St. Clair signed his contract today. The sculptor will present the Arts Council
35 with clay models for approval during the process.

37 Agenda Item No. 5D - Discussion. - Master Plan Work Group Update

39 At the next meeting the Arts Council will combine missions and objectives into a
40 cohesive plan. The Arts Council wants to keep the objectives in mind as they proceed
41 through various issues.

43 Agenda Item No. 5E - Discussion. - APEX update

45 APEX has been working on their plan and will make an announcement soon.

1 Agenda Item No. 5E - Discussion. - ArtsNet update

3 This will be one of the largest concert years with a large presence in Southlake.
4 Although this will be a tough economic year, they have already collected 25% of their
5 budget. The Library is no longer sponsoring the concerts because they can't get the
6 space, so Community Services is now sponsoring the concerts.
7
8 There is a bill in the legislature to fund $1 per resident for public art. There was some
9 discussion about the bill and the current lack of funds for public art in Texas.
10
