Discussion: September 2016 Art Exhibit and Reception – This item is a standing agenda item to allow the Arts Council to discuss and plan the September 9, 2016 reception and the September 8-November 4, 2016 art exhibit. There are no packet documents for this item 3. Agenda Item No. 3B. Discussion: Southlake Senior Funding, Inc. Art Program Update – This item is a standing agenda item to allow the Arts Council to discuss potential plans to partner with Southlake Senior Funding, Inc. on an art program in 2017. Discussion: Frank Edgar Cornish, IV Park Art Selection Update – Staff will update Arts Council on the art selection process for the Frank Edgar Cornish, IV Park art project. (SSFI) REGULAR SESSION 1. CALL TO ORDER The meeting was called to order by Arts Council Chairman Bartlett at 6:04 p.m. Agenda Item 4A, Discussion, Southlake Senior Funding Inc. Art Program Request, was considered next out of the regular agenda sequence. See Item 4A for comments. Arts Council member Merlene Ingraham arrived at 6:06 p.m. 2. CONSENT AGENDA Consent Agenda items are considered to be routine by the Southlake Arts Council and are enacted with one motion. 2A. APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES FROM THE MAY 23, 2016 SOUTHLAKE ARTS COUNCIL MEETING A correction was made to the minutes of the May 23, 2016 meeting to note that Miriam Murray made the motion on Item 3B. APPROVED A motion was made to approve the minutes of May 23, 2016 meeting as corrected. CONSIDER 3A. APPROVE PERMIT FOR FALL ART GALLERY RECEPTION SEPTEMBER 17, 2016 AND ART EXHIBIT SEPTEMBER 16 – NOVEMBER 4, 2016 IN TOWN HALL LOBBY Deputy Director Candice Edmondson presented the permit for the art gallery reception and exhibit in Town Hall lobby. Images proposed by Pulitzer Prize photographer Beatriz Terrazas were reviewed. The Arts Council selected the pieces to be displayed in the exhibit. Due to the Grapefest event September 15-18, the Arts Council decided to change the date of the reception from September 17, 2016 to September 9, 2016, 6:30 – 8:00 p.m. The exhibit will now run from September 8, 2016 - November 4, 2016. APPROVED A motion was made to approve the permit for the fall art gallery reception moving the reception from September 17 to September 9, 2016, 6:30-8:00 p.m. and hanging artwork on September 8. The Arts Council also selected the art pieces to be displayed in the exhibit. RECOMMENDATION ON PROPOSED FISCAL YEAR 2017 PUBLIC ART FUND BUDGET Deputy Director Candice Edmondson presented the proposed Fiscal Year 2017 Public Art Fund Budget and was available to answer questions. Motion: McMillan Second: Cook Ayes: Bartlett, Cook, Ingraham, McMillan, Murray, and Trager (Alt #1) Nays: None Abstain: None Vote: 6-0 Motion Carried 4. DISCUSSION 4A. SOUTHLAKE SENIOR FUNDING, INC. ART PROGRAM REQUEST Phyllis Fletcher and Suzanne Van Dusen, representatives from Southlake Senior Funding, Inc. (SSFI) presented a request for a senior related art program. SSFI is interested in partnering with Southlake Arts Council for a possible senior showcase event in 2017 at The Marq. The Arts Council was in favor of the SSFI request and appointed Miriam Murray, Tamara McMillan and Leslie Bartlett to a subcommittee to work with SSFI on the logistics and details for the event. The Arts Council will be updated on the project. Arts Council member Kelly Trager left the meeting at 6:55 p.m. 4B. FRANK EDGAR CORNISH, IV PARK ART SELECTION UPDATE Deputy Director Candice Edmondson presented an update on the art selection process for Frank Edgar Cornish, IV Park and was available to answer questions. Kinetic artist Lyman Whitaker is working on a proposal that will be presented at the August Southlake Arts Council meeting for consideration. 4C. SEPTEMBER 2016 ART EXHIBIT AND RECEPTION Deputy Director Candice Edmondson facilitated the discussion of the September 2016 art reception and art exhibit. Various aspects of the event were discussed and planning of the event will continue at the next meeting. PUBLIC FORUM There was no one to speak during Public Forum. Additional Discussion: The Arts Council briefly discussed having a Public Art Map to help promote and publicize the City’s public art works. 6.
