1. Agenda Item No. 2A. Consent: Approval of the minutes from the January 28, 2014
regular Southlake Arts Council meeting – Please make any corrections to the
minutes part of the motion.
2. Agenda Item No. 4A. Discussion: Strokes of Art in the Square Reception Recap –
The purpose of this item is to allow the Arts Council to recap the reception held
February 23, 2014. There are no packet documents for this item.
3. Agenda Item No. 4B. Discussion: Future Public Art Opportunities – This item will
allow the Arts Council to discuss and brainstorm upcoming opportunities for public
art. There are no packet documents for this item.
4. Agenda Item No. 4C. Discussion: April Southlake Arts Council Meeting Date – Staff
is currently scheduling opportunities for Boards and Commissions members to hear
the results of the 2013 Citizens Satisfaction Survey. A representative from the City
Manager’s Office will be present at the April Southlake Arts Council meeting to
discuss the results. For convenience, staff is trying to have the results presented to
the Arts Council and the Library Board at the same time in April and will discuss
options for the joint presentation with you at the meeting. There are no packet

5. Agenda Item No. 5. PUBLIC FORUM: This is the public's opportunity to address the
Arts Council about non-agenda items. During this proceeding the Arts Council will
not discuss or take action on any item brought up at this time.

attendance log is included in your packet.

Chair Bartlett called the meeting of the Southlake Arts Council to order at 6:07
p.m.

Council and are enacted with one motion. Chair Bartlett read the consent agenda
item for the record.

3. CONSIDER
3A. RECOMMENDATION ON PERMIT FOR CISD ART EXHIBIT IN TOWN HALL
APRIL 25-27, 2014
Deputy Director Edmondson presented the permit for CISD student art exhibit to
be displayed in Town Hall in conjunction with Art in the Square, April 25-27,
2014, for a recommendation to City Council. This year’s exhibit will be the fourth
such annual exhibit. The CISD art exhibit permit meets the provisions of the
Public Art Display and/or Performance Policy. City Council will consider approval
of the permit at their February 4, 2014 meeting. The Arts Council discussed the
exhibit.

A motion was made to recommend approval of the permit for CISD art exhibit in
Town Hall April 25-27, 2014.

4. DISCUSSION
4A. 2ND ANNUAL “STROKES OF ART IN THE SQUARE” RECEPTION
Terri Messing led the discussion and clarified this year’s event will be the fifth
such event. Preparations and assignments for the reception to be held Sunday,
February 23, 2014 in Town Hall lobby were discussed.
4B. DPS NORTH ARTWORK UPDATE
Deputy Director Edmondson presented an update on the DPS North Training
Facility grand opening held January 14, 2014 and installation of the mural and
sculptures at the facility.

4C. COMMUNITY RECREATION CENTER UPDATE
Deputy Director Edmondson updated the Arts Council on the progress of the
Community Recreation Center schematic design. Continual updates on the
project will also be available at www.SouthlakeCRC.com.
Southlake Arts Council member Terri Messing left the meeting at this time.
4D. FUTURE PUBLIC ART OPPORTUNITIES
Deputy Director Edmondson presented this item for discussion. The Arts Council
discussed possible opportunities including information about a “Waterfire”
pageant. The Arts Council is also interested in possible Facebook or other social
media presence, which staff will investigate.
Members were invited to attend Geppetto’s event February 16 at 3:00 p.m. at
White’s Chapel United Methodist Church and the 6th Annual Jazz Festival March
1 at 7:00 p.m., also at the church.
5. PUBLIC FORUM
No one was present to speak at Public Forum.
6. ADJOURNMENT
