Consent: Approval of the minutes from the February 28, 2012 Southlake Arts Council meeting — Please make any corrections to the minutes part of the motion. 2. Aaenda Item No. 3A. Recommendation on permit for CISD Photoqraphv Exhibit in Department of Public Safety Headquarters May 1-31, 2012 — The purpose of this permit is to allow an exhibit in DPS Headquarters facility main lobby area that will feature about 60 assorted photos taken by CISD students. The exhibit will consist of two sets of three -panel, freestanding floor display units. Sponsors of the CISD photo exhibit include Southlake Arts Council and the Southlake Public Library. The exhibit will be managed and maintained by City of Southlake Public Library staff. Deputy Director McGeath is the liaison for the exhibition and will coordinate set up and tear down of the photos. The Permit for the display meets the provisions of the Display of Public Arts Policy. Approval of the permit for the CISD photo exhibit will have no financial impact on City budgets. A copy of the Permit is attached to your packet memo. 3. Agenda Item No. 4A. Discussion: Potential events and brainstorming a schedule — During the discussion at the February 28, 2012 Arts Council meeting, the Council asked to place an item on the next agenda so members could talk about ideas for possible upcoming events and to work on a schedule. Your packet memo contains a calendar of events for June -December 2012 that are known at this time to aid in planning events for the remainder of the year. Please bring all your ideas and suggestions to the meeting. The item was discussed 38 by the Southlake Arts Council. A ends Item No. 4 — Discussion: "Winter Arts in Town Hall" Reception — This item was discussed and members were praised for their efforts. Feedback was very positive from the artists and attendees. Approximately 90 people attended the reception. The Southlake Arts Council discussed publicity issues and discussed utilizing a schedule of events, press releases, media blasts and web calendars for future events. Banners/signs and other advertising options may be explored. Southlake Arts Council will work on a schedule this summer to present to City Council of upcoming events. A discussion item will be placed on the next agenda regarding possible events for the remainder of the year and to brainstorm a schedule. A calendar of upcoming local and regional events may be provided at the next meeting to aid in scheduling future events. One possible event was to host a photography show. Agenda Item No. 5 - Public Forum: No one was present to address the Arts Council. Professional photos of the City's roundabout art pieces, fountains and other art pieces will be uploaded to the City's website in the near future. Background Information: At the last meeting, the Arts Council expressed an interest in formulating a list of possible cultural events they could host or participate in during the remainder of 2012.
