SUBJECT: Agenda Item Comments and Other Items of Interest for
Southlake Arts Council Meeting — Tuesday, March 24, 2009 at
6:00 p.m.
Please note the meeting will be held in Southlake Town Hall — Training Room 3B (3'd
Floor) at 6,00 p.m. Please notify staff if you will not be able to attend (817.748,8184 or
(carpenter(a�ci.southlake.tx.us?. Additionally, refreshments will no longer be served at the
meeting as a cost -savings measure. Thank you!
1. Agenda Item No. 2A. Administrative Comments: Oath of Office for Carol Knox —
Deputy Director McGeath will administer the Oath of Office to newly appointed Arts
Council member Carol Knox. On behalf of staff and the Arts Council, we welcome
Ms. Knox and look forward to working with her along with all the other Arts Council
members.
2. Aaenda Item No. 2B. Administrative Comments: Special Arts Council Meeting April
15 — Just a reminder that a special Arts Council meeting has been scheduled for
Wednesdav< April 15 (n?_ 6:00 p.m. in Town Hall Room 3B_(3rd Floor) to review and
make a recommendation on the artists' concepts for painting and sculptures for the
DPS facility. The special meeting on April 15 will replace the regular meeting that
was scheduled for April 28.
3. Aaenda Item No. 3A. and 3B. Consider: Approval of the minutes from the February
4 and Februa 24 2009 Southlake Arts Council meetings -- The meeting minutes
are not available at the time of this writing; they will be distributed at the meeting
Tuesday for your review. If you have corrections to the meeting minutes, please
make it part of the motion for consideration.
4. Aaenda Item No. 3C. Consider: Rescinding of _consider.._item related to purchase of
Trish Biddle paintings for 2/4/09 meeting — A consider item was passed regarding
recommending to the City Council the purchase of four (4) Trish Biddle paintings. At
the February 24, 2009 Arts Council meeting you considered the delay of making the
request until later — per that discussion it was indicated that the Arts Council wanted
to consider rescinding the recommendation to Council, and to reconsider at a later
date.
5. Agenda Item No. 4. PUBLIC FORUM: This is the public's opportunity to address the
Council about non -agenda items. During this proceeding it is important that the
council not deliberate (discuss among yourselves) or take action on any item

brought up at this time. The councils' options during this topic are 1) to listen; 2) ask
questions and respond to the presenter only; 3) request staff to look into the issue
and report back to the council; and/or 4) request that the chair put the item on a
future agenda for the council to discuss or consider.
5. Agenda Item No. 5A. Discussion: Public Art Projects — This Agenda item is an
opportunity for the Arts Council to review and discuss possible public art projects.
7. Agenda Item No. 513. Discussion: Master Plan Work Group Update — This is a
standing item on the agenda to allow for the Master Plan work group to update the
Arts Council and discuss their progress on the development of the Public Arts
Master Plan.
8. Agenda Item No. 5C. Discussion: APEX Update — This item allows representatives
from APEX to update the Arts Council on APEX's current situation and upcoming
programs.
