Southlake Arts Council Meeting — Tuesday, July 22, 2008 at 6:00

Agenda Item No. 2. Administrative Comments:
A. DPS Call to Artists Update — We have received a number of inquiries
regarding the Call to Artists and have had "the call" published in all the local
papers. Deputy Director McGeath has been meeting with a number of artists
to show them drawings of the complex so they could get a better feel for the
project and also to get a feel for what types of things we need to look for in
developing a contract.

Southlake Arts Council meeting -- If you have corrections to either meeting minutes,
please let Administrative Secretary Nancy Roper know in advance or make it part of
the motion for consideration. Nancy can be reached via e-mail at

3. Agenda Item No. 4. PUBLIC FORUM: This is the public's opportunity to address the
Council about non -agenda items. During this proceeding it is important that the
council not deliberate (discuss among yourselves) or take action on any item
brought up at this time. The councils' options during this topic are 1) to listen; 2) ask
questions and respond to the presenter only; 3) request staff to look into the issue
and report back to the council; and/or 4) request that the chair put the item on a
future agenda for the council to discuss or consider.
4. Agenda Item No 5 Consider: Recommendation on the Roundabout Art concept —
Staff will present a brief update on the roundabout projects along with potential
concepts for the Arts Council to consider.

There are a number of agencies available that can develop master plans for
organizations and can implement the "Call to Artists," which we will be sending out
over the next few years for various projects. Staff will review some of those options
with the Arts Council.
6. Agenda Item No 513Discussion Artist Selection Workqroup Update — This is a
standing item on the agenda to allow for the Artist Selection work group to update
the Arts Council and discuss their progress on artist selections for upcoming public
art projects.
7. Agenda Item No 5C Discussion:.Master Plan Workqroup Update — This is a
standing item on the agenda to allow for the Master Plan work group to update the
Arts Council and discuss their progress on the development of the Public Arts
Master Plan.

29 A. Bob Jones Nature Center Grand Opening — Mr. Tribble spoke
30 about the ongoing events leading up to the opening on April 1 e. The next Arts Council
31 meeting will be held at the Nature Center on April 22, 2008.

9 Mr. Tribble presented the general Call to Artists document for review. After discussion,
10 there were no issues with the document. A motion to accept the document was made
11 by Mrs. Wiersum. It was seconded by Mrs. Messing and unanimously approved.

16 Mrs. Firestone and Mrs. Messing reported on their workgroup discussion of the Call to
